no they don't. I went to the hospital 12 years ago with chest pains. Had I waited a little longer I could have had a heart attack as I had 99% blockage and it had nothing to do with Coronavirus.
Sometimes people have heart attacks, strokes and Pneumonia and it has absolutely nothing to do with Coronavirus.

The CDC explains this on their flu page archived from 2018.
The cdc says it doesn’t count as a flu death when the flu causes a deadly pneumonia? Gonna have to see a link.

Covid can induce a heart attack and pneumonia.

Eventually we will be able to compare the history of total yearly US deaths for the past few years to 2020 deaths. The difference will be mostly due to covid19 disease.
The counter ridiculous argument will be that all the covid19 victims would eventually die of something else so the disease prevented those deaths. I just saved deeprig some effort.

Yes, it can, and sometimes they happen on their own. Then when you add that Covid typically attacks people that already have that preexisting condition....well...which caused it? I mean if the person didn't already have a heart attack or extreme blockage the Covid probably would nto have done anything.
Then, some people just have heart attacks because their blockage is to the point that it happens. The attack wasn't caused by Covid, it happened because the blockage reached that point on its own.

If it's a 40 year old with pneumonia, yes they'll test, even posthumously to see what caused the pneumonia. If it's an 80 year old in a nursing home, no. They don't even do a flu test. They just treat, and if they die, it gets listed as pneumonia. Especially if there's a DNR, and at least half of nursing home residents have a DNR.

How so? There is a very deadly outbreak in nyc hospitals and a sudden dramatic increase of deaths inside nyc homes.
Because there could be any number of diseases floating around NYC at a given time. Without any sort of sampling done on those deaths, there is no safe assumption.
ETA: it very well could be (and I would say it's most likely covid related), but it still is not a safe assumption.

Maybe.
quote:That was actually your reasoning when you arged the opposite. Just because deaths go up does nto necessarily mean the cause was Covid, and just because Pneumonia, heart attacks and strokes go down after Covid does not mean that Covid prevented it.

I mean, if heart attacks, strokes and Pneumonia deaths go down during the Covid crises is it logical to assume that those people would have probably died from those causes and they just happened to have Covid?
It's kind of a chicken or the egg conversation, really.
If you want to compare year over year results for Heart Attacks, then should you subtract those numbers from Covid deaths and argue that they would most likely have died from a heart attack anyway?

That is factual

So a highly unlikely hypothetical vs Covid? Yes, still a safe assumption.

So you got nothing. A person dying of flu related pneumonia will go down as a flu death, just as a person dying of Covid related pneumonia will go down as a Covid death.

If a man dies of COVID in the middle of a forest and no one knows....is he really dead?
If a man is going to die of a heart attack at noon on Friday, but he happens to be driving a car and at 11:55 the pains cause him to wreck and die of a head injury. What did he die from? Heart Attack that caused the wreck? Car Accident? Head Trama? COVID if he tested positive?
Fun with numbers.

Yes, factual but ridiculous as an argument that covid19 deaths don't matter.

You are a very scientific person.

I guess you want me to post copies of some death certificates of my family members who have died that prove this? Go frick yourself. Anyone with half a brain or any true life experience already knows this.

Not sure it's that unlikely. NYC is a breeding ground for all sorts of infectious disease.

They do matter. Context also matters in terms of the response.

And yet only 1/3 of pneumonia cases started out as flu.
So, just because someone dies of pneumonia it does not mean it should be attributed to the flu.
Can the Flu turn into Pneumonia?
A: Absolutely. The flu can become pneumonia. In fact, about one-third of all pneumonia cases in this country are caused by respiratory viruses, most commonly influenza.

I will say this....the Coronavirus pandemic has raised my awareness of the Flu. I never thought much about it. I just thought of it has something that was a worse than a bad cold. I knew some people died from it, but didn't know it was so many people.
The flu is much more serious than I thought.

This puts a lot of numbers in perspective.
Flu
Heart disease
Breast cancer
Smoking
Death and taxes. They are about all that you can count on.
