I've forgotten so much during the break. I watched s4 finale last night, man what an episode. Mike tracking down the german builder was a side plot that also let us know that lalo (don't think he was even named yet at this point in the show) was going to be a major problem. Great but sad scene with ziegler and mike in the desert. Main plot was jimmy and kim trying to sway the law community to get jimmy his license back, he wows the committee with a rousing speech, then instantly asks for the dba form to change his name while kim is left speechless. "'Sal good, man!" Damn I remember being so on edge when that ended knowing I'd have to wait so long for another ep.

At least now I don't have to wait another year+ for the next season. Gonna start a Season 5 rewatch tonight or tomorrow so i can be fully caught up for S6 premiere.

American Greed: James McGill

Basically a summary of Jimmy/Saul during BCS and Breaking Bad in an “America’s Most Wanted” type of format.

Don’t know if this extra will be considered canon or not but it’s great.

It still holds up to me but with all the information we have now some of the storylines and antics are over the top and a lot of dead space or wasted storylines. Gillian loves the art of making a story through a TV show and some of it doesn’t hold up but still one of the best series I ever watched. I can turn on any episode and enjoy it all the way through but I’m a huge fan so it may not be for everyone.
Depending on how BCS ends I like it better than Breaking Bad.

I'm hoping that I can buy the episodes the day after on Amazon and watch it commercial free. Watching the show on AMC with commercials is quite painful. For season 5 the show would be available for purchase the day after it aired and I would just buy it.

You're a better man than me because I couldn't possibly wait until the next night to watch. Especially since all day Tuesday people will be discussing what happened.

Only three days left until Oughta Call Kim

I watched some of season 5 to try and get reacquainted and honestly wish I hadnt. Not trying to be negative (because I really am excited about this), but season 5 minus the finale is probably the second weakest season of all. After seasons 1 and 2. Which are tied for weakest. The last minute decision to turn Kim into Slippin Kimmy is just too desperate. They slow burned us for nearly a decade, and when they finally have their feet to the fire to wrap tjings up, Kim breaks bad on a dime?? Gay.

After re-glancing 5, I am now up from 71% to 96% confident that Kim survives now. Think of the times we’re in. This show isn’t really even about saul anymore. Its the Kim show

This is good signal.

They are bending over backwards to remind and refresh us on the whole entire arc (and where we’re at in it)….. which means theyre hopefully going for it, all the way.

Instead of slow burning us to death an inch at a time where the only reward for an entire season is some abscure hidden easter egg from BB or some killer background symbolic lines….we may actually get facemelter plot twists

Thats all i want. I want all the slow methodical tedious shite so far to pay off like it was on purpose. And not smoke screen until they settled on slippin kimmy or some dumbb shite

Can you do a free trial of AMC to watch season 6 or do you have to pay?

Not many people talk about BCS at work and the guys that do make sure to ask "did you see that episode" before spoiling anything. Normally I am ok if I don't google anything BCS related. I really hate the commercials.

NumbNuts9 aka DeepRig asked me to let you guys know that he will not be able to participate in tonight's better call Saul discussion because he has been banished from the rant for some disparaging remarks about the the the ethnicity of the romans who killed Jesus.

Last minute prediction. Just want to get it on record in case…

There will be a black and white post-BB Gene timeline sequence featuring Kim to open the final season. Or at least she will show up in the usual black and white opener this time.

At least, that’s how I’d write it if the decision was she survives. A nice facemelter right off the bat after two years of hiatus from season 5

Raise a clinched fist or nod your head or something when the lines are freakin everywhere.

Even if you weren’t banned, you’d never admit I’m right. But I know that you know I am.

Kim in an Omaha/post bb/gene scene would be a killer way to start the season. In the s5 premier ep gene is about to vacuum himself again but sees something or someone off camera and cancels. Could that be Kim?

Just including the above as a reminder about the visual component to the story telling with this thing that they painstakingly keep hidden in plain sight. The lines aren't something I'm making up to try and sound mystical or cool. THey are real, and they have purpose.

WIth that said, congratulations to whoever it was that predicted Kim would go to jail this season to explain why she isn't seen in Breaking Bad. It's pretty clear now that it's her final trajectory. Because did you notice a few changes behind her in these first two episodes?? Especially and specifically whenever it was a scene about the HOward destruction plot? For instance, at the El Camino dining room where Kim was scarfing soapapia's like she's out on bail (more on her new gross eating habits later)....did you notice all the bars lined up around her in lines like she is in a prison? In jail?

Did you you notice the shadow of the window security bar lines (the kind on a liquor store in the ghetto) cast behind her the whole time (instead of the usual horizontal window blind lines)? DId you notice when the conversation turned to the plot against Howard, the camera moved outside of the restaurant and showed Jimmy and Kim both behind bars where we couldn't hear them speaking anymore? Looking just almost exactly like an attorney talking to his client who is locked up? Framed by the lines made by the bars surrounding them? ALso, did you notice during her covert surveillance of HOward and guitar lawyer all the security fencing lines? Big tall sharp industrial -grade vertical line securiity gating, and line infested chain link fencing? (at a private country club? Sorry, nope)

Anyway, there's more. I'll get into Kim's new gross eating habits later (seriously, wtf is up with that gum chew scene and she's scarfing raisin bran and talking and chewing simultaneously with her mouth open cheeks packed and c=cereal shards are flying everywhere?) and what it could mean. Was very disappointed that they blew the symmetry of the entire series and skipped the black and white Gene season intro, but whatever. Lots of interesting stuff to get into on the opener scene though at Saul's Maralogo. He even has a secret Epstein room complete with a makeshift toilet/bucket to shite in on long survelillance jobs. What the hell

it's kinda weird to me the hate boner she has for howard. I mean yeah I get it, he's kinda douchey, but with chuck out of hte picture he's been nice to jimmy and even offered him a job and has been met with property destruction and embarassment in return. Wahtever kim has cooked up goes beyond embarrassment and she's actuviely trying to hurt his life and career..is it only to get the sandpiper money? Seems very heavy handed. I guess this is her vesrion of "breaking bad"

I didn't notice in real time but saw someone else mention it, and knowing vince there is no way taht was accidental. Everything he does has a purpose so you gotta think that's significant.

me too, I've been waiting 2 years to get more gene and we got nada. I think it was kinda cool to at long last see what kind of house saul goodman has in the breaking bad era, but man I wanted gene. I HAVE to imagine that towards the end of this season we'll get full gene episodes. We practically have to to wrap up that story.

The whole slippin kimmy things is weird, to be honest. Just going to have to suspend some disbelief in order to enjoy it to the end. It almost looks like they're going to make it to where Kim creates the Saul character for Jimmy. SHe's picking out his future Saul cadillac car, his future cathedral of justice office, his clothes, etc. While she turns evil. Oh well.

Howard's whole role is to represent the good and honorable man. And so this is suppose to be like when Tyler Durden beat the blonde pretty boy to a pulp and disfigured his pretty boy face. Kim just wants to destroy something good and honorable. I don't really understand her motivation to do it though. I think her developing some gross table manners is suppose to explain some of it,but it's going over my head

lol

Seriously dude. How would you describe the way she horked that piece of chewing gum while spying with the binoculars? Not sure 'hork' is even a word. WHich actually goes to the point. It was so out of character and weird the way she so aggresively gnawed down on that thing that you have to invent words to describe its bizarness.

hork (verb) - to aggressively gnaw

Please go back and watch it. It made me laugh so damn hard

And this is tv, so a writer wrote it that way, and then a director instructed her on how to do it that way, and then she, the actress, acted it out that specific way. And I just want to know why. And it wasn't a one-off. She's scarfing raisin bran with packed cheeks and talking and ordering enough for a family of 5 at el caminos too. What in the heck??!

quote:

I think it was kinda cool to at long last see what kind of house saul goodman has in the breaking bad era, but man I wanted gene.

It answered a few questions. But raises several more. There were zero signs that Kim ever had or ever would eventually live there (except for the tequila bottle top from their first scam which fell into the gutter at the end of the scene to symbolize how Jimmy dragged her down into the gutter with him - Man, they love that goofy bottle top thing). It showed he's taking Viagra to bang someone that isn't Kim, so we know the relationship is severed completely. Thi biggest question I have though is that the revealing of Saul's Maralago and it's contents makes him even more Saul Goodman than we thought him to be before. I mean, he lives like a saudi arabian oil shiek then goes to work everyday in that shitty strip mall office? But here we are 2 seasons into the last season and he doesn't seem anywhere close to that version of Saul Goodman. WHen does the switch flip? And how could it happen so fast? I mean I think we're only about a year away from the start of breaking bad

Agree that Howard is the only straight-shooter in this whole series so far. He's made out to be the a-hole villain for the early seasons before it comes out that it was Chuck gunning against Jimmy, and Kim.

I really liked episode 1 & 2 of season 6. Really suspenseful. I may go the route of buying the episodes the next day however. It was 110 minutes of show and 40 minutes of commercials. I really don't have any predictions of how it ends but I hope Nacho and his dad make it out; Lalo gets whacked, Kim survives, and Kim and Saul reunite.

You can do like I do for football games, record, then start watching 30+ minutes later and you fast forward through the commercials and catch up in the end pretty close to real time.
