I'm back on season 5 now. Paid the $25 (it goes to my wife's amazon account, she'll never notice, it's basically a rounding error).

I forgot how strong it starts.

WG was right (for once), Netflix has announced S5 is coming to their lineup before S6.

Pretty smart.

Millions with Netflix probably have never seen S5 and would put whatever to watch S6 episodes as they come out.

Any predictions for the end? I think Kim will go down and go to prison. Given the tone of the show I don't think she will die. I think flash forward Saul gets caught. It's hard to end a show like this, Dexter, or Breaking Bad where the entire premise is the lead character not getting caught.

BCS is a slower burn and not as consistently violent, but every bit as dramatic. I like BCS better.

Yah, I enjoy it more. There are so many interesting characters and situations. So many different sub-plots. BB was mainly Walter White & Jessie's adventure.

I personally prefer BB but BCS can absolutely stand on its own merit, even if it wasn't a spinoff. As mentioned it is much slower paced, but I feel like if you know that going on it's not biggie. Especially if you're gonna binge watch seasons 1-5 you won't even notice. The "feel" of the show is extremely similar to Breaking bad. The cinematography, the way the story unfolds, the music, etc. So if you like BB, you'll probably really like BCS too.

Agree about the tone of the show and her surviving. Although i think it would be more interesting if she didn't. It would be in the typical underwhelming watching-paint-dry BCS style if the big facemelter plot reveal that we've been waiting 10 years for is that the only thing that happens to Kim is she goes to jail and loses her law license.

If this is the route they go, it'll have some sort of twist though. TO tie the whole thing together with BB, I think the writers are going to have to turn the audience against Saul. THey need us to hate him. There's going to be some kind of gut wrenching betrayal. Otherwise it doesn't match up with who he is in Breaking Bad.

If she goes to jail, here's how it will happen: things get so bad and sideways and deadly, that Saul thinks the only way he can save her from Lalo and the cartel is to slip up, frame, or turn her in or etc to make is so that she is arrested. Where she can be safe. She won't understand that this is what happened. That he's doing it to protect her. And maybe we won't be let in on his real motivation for it either. She pleas out, and doesn't serve any time, but loses her law license and has to enter the witness relocation program. And there's your betrayal. And Jimmy/Saul is dead to her forever. And theres a scene where she ugly-cries about it and claws Sauls face as he stand there and takes it and the actress that plays kim wins an emmy for it

Here's the jacked up thing about Saul's actions though. How pure were his actions actuually? However he pulls this off turning her in to supposedly protect her, he has also simultaneously somehow made it so that the heat is no longer on him, right?. The cartel allows him to live as we see in BB. And he is still practicing law there too. So........ yes, he saved Kim in a way, but he also saved his own hide too. Which one was the priority there? Were his intentions 100% pure and unselfish afterall? We are left with some gut wrenching questions. And maybe we get answers to them in black in white when Gene confronts Kim (or whatever her new witness protection alias is) in Omaha at Spencer gifts while Saul is on break from his shift at Cinnabuns or something

Kim, lalo/cartel, howard hamlin, the sandpiper settlement, etc...there's a ton we want to see. But I'm absoultely most jacked up to see the finale of Gene's story arc.

Jefferson I know you mentiond earlier not reading elsewhere abotu the show. I saw somethign a while back, couldnt' begin to tell you now when or where it was, that at some point this season we're going to get a LOT of gene rather than just the couple minute black and white intro scenes we're used to. Like maybe even a full episode maybe? Can't remember specifically.

I'm curious if Gene will ride out his post-Breaking bad days as Gene like he's supposed to or if he'll crack and let Jimmy come out. We already saw a crack in the facade last season when he helped that shoplifter kid when the cops were after him. We've also got to think that OMaha Gene is what, something like 5 years after what we're currently seeing on screen in Better Call Saul? Or maybe less considering overlap. Idk. I'm just jacked it's back.

I'm in S5 rewatch and there's alot of unnecessary Howard appearances, like the writers just want to keep reminding you that he exists for nothing that advances the story, and I see him in the S6 trailer too.

Howard has to, in some way, be involved in whatever gets Kim out of the picture.

Just my theory.

And/Or, Howard has a mental breakdown from his guilt about Chuck.

Great point. If you binge watch, you don't notice the slowness. If you watched in real time, where you had to wait a week between episodes, the slower pace stands out more.

I think you could be right.

I thought the promo poster just symbolized the inevitable connection of the BB prequel to the Gene postquel. The bright vivid colorful jacket of Saul Goodman season 6 with black and white Gene underneath. But, maybe the poster is literally Gene putting the Saul jacket back on? Gene returning to Saul?

I don't know though. That sounds kind of cool, but I don't know how that would work when you're hiding from the law and the cartel? And when it's one of the most excruciatingly slow-paced shows ever, and there's only one season left?

I do think they'll finish it in the black and white Gene world though. But I bet it's more of a vague and open-ended final scene montage kind of thing. Gene having gotten tired of hiding and living as a schmoe, or maybe his cover gets blown, moves on from Omoha to take his chances. And as he drives away "Address Unknown" plays on the car stereo and there's all kind of clues and easter eggs refrencing things we learn about in first part of season 6 that he passes hinting at where he could be going, then fade to black, roll credits. And we're left to debate what they hell it means. Did the 32 miles to Kansas City mean he's going to see Kim? Which direction is that from Omaha? Did he just pass the diner where he saw her for the last time when she ugly-cried, scratched his face, and cursed his name?? And that kind of thing. I'm trying to keep expectations really really low

Agree. There's a quick scene in the trailer where Kim asks Howard "Are you building a case against Jimmy?" and he answers "I'm just getting warmed up". And later there's a brief glimpse of Howard walking a warpath with the guitar playing lawyer that Jimmy was a partner with briefly. But the scene is from the point of view of someone surveilling Howard.

And also in the trailer Kim asks Saul "Do you ever feel like you're being followed?"

I don't know how it all intertwines, but Slippin Kimmy is trying to ruin Howard in a con with Saul. And now HOward is coming after Jimmy with guitar playing former partner lawyer. He's watching them, and theyre watching him. And what does Howard find out about Saul? Does he find out the parts that Kim doesn't quite know about yet? Or does howards investigation of Jimmy bring him too close to the cartel where they think he knows something, and maybe HOward is the one that gets offed? And when Kim realizes she played a part in it, it scares her straight and the guilt eats her to pieces because she's mostly a good person. And maybe that's the boring ending that separates Saul and Kim and she moves back to the Kansas City area to do pro bono work, while Saul goes full dirtbag lawyer for Walter white until Gene world. i dont know

And at some point we know he has to get Francesca back as the paralegal for his Saul operation. "It's so hot today, I just want to go to Cracker Barrel for the air conditioning".

Underrated supporting part.

That seems likely that Howard will get whacked by getting too close to the cartel It also seems likely Kim will have a wake-up call and realize she needs to get out and go back to KC to do pro-bono work. I didn't like how they ended BB or Dexter; just killing off the main character. I thought it should have been more like Shawshank where the main character goes off into the sunset.

EDIT: Ok, I watched the trailer. Wow, talk about super intense. I think this show goes out with a blaze of glory. It looks like maybe Saul and Mike have to get out of dodge for a while(before BB); maybe Mexico. I would say maybe Kim gets caught in the crossfire along with Howard. I love how Howard says "I'm just getting warmed up". I wonder why Howard goes after Jimmy so hard. Interesting.
