When I was a kid it was a scary store to enter, in our heads at least. I remember people saying he lived off Due West or Burnt Hickory. Wish I was still young.

Very close to the Due West crossroads. Gilgath/Galgotha area. Wooded. Ate up with trenches and artifacts.
What's your age Mr. immobileman and you are from the area?

I though thought it was Kennesaw Due West. About a half mile from the intersection. I remember there was a old GA state flag flying on a pole by the road. Always thought that was his house

You are correct sir!
Burnt Hickory was the next road down. I will amend my previous comment.

His shop wasn't far from where my grandparents lived. Visited his store a while back and he was a cool dude. Sad to hear about his passing.

Not a fan of this phrase.
Allman Bros = national treasures
Robert E Lee = Racist nazi
Elvis = national treasure
Confederate flag = evil
Thomas Jefferson = vile slave owner
Dale Earhhardt = redneck trash
Any Democrat from the South = national treasure!!!!

A polarizing figure, to say the least.

A lot of people don’t know that Due West wasn’t a direction, but actually the name of a town. Thus a shite load of confusion in West Cobb.

I grew up a couple miles from him. Used to take various seemingly unidentifiable relics and he’d immediately know what it was. I also know he was listed in the credits as a historical consultant in the movie “Gettysburg”.
RIP Wild Man
RIP Wild Man

I was always told because it was Due West of city of Marietta which is correct. Maybe it’s both

Got a peek into the back room one time and saw a STACK of pristine “IMPEACH BILL CLINTON” shirts, with a list of his crimes from the 90’s
I need that shirt
I need that shirt

Acworth Due West was called Sandtown Rd during the civil war, and had previously been a Cherokee trail, their version of an interstate highway. The crossroads at Due West was a major trading post and village prior to the land lotteries of 1830 that gave all the land to settlers. The area was called Galgotha and/or Gilgalth after a church on the corner there during the civil war. How the community ended up with the name Due West in the end, I don't know. But as DC said, it is due west from Marietta. This trading post was the last one going South in the Cherokee Nation before entering Creek territory, south of present day Dallas Hwy (GA 120). It was sort of like a border town trading post from Cherokee and Creeks. And the occasional pale face that wasn't where he was supposed to be. Oh, and lots of those Cherokees owned slaves too.

I grew up in Kennesaw, late 40’s. Left the state after high school. Once the Mall was built it was getting too crowded. There used to be pastures around the strip malls near Kennesaw College/University that a Friedan family owned. Crazy a small rural town became a huge sidewalk. Pretenders’ had it right with the song, I went back to Ohio.
Now there is one road where I live that gets congested. I like it better here.

KSU is a 4 year university with grad programs and it's own football team (FCS).

Vince was hired to set up the football program. That's when they had to change the mascot fromhooters to owls.

All good, when I moved it was a college, sorry I never looked back. I could live in the N GA mountains, maybe the coast but really nowhere else in ga. Too many people, especially transplants turning the state blue, not my cup of tea.

Oh, I wasn't correcting you. It was meant to demonstrate how big KSU has gotten.
