Trump has always seemed like a grifter to me.

But this lawsuit is a total waste of time and money. Dude paid the loan back. I don't see the problem.

People inflate the value of things everyday.

Just looked up the most expensive beach front house near Mar a lago and it is $60mm for a 6 bed 7 bath

Mar a lago has over 30 rooms and is a private club beach front

I have several places in FL and I can tell you that thing is worth north of $200mm in that location for that size, easily

$18M was the county tax assessment...that's not an appraisal. He claimed it to be worth $1.5B, which is madness and clearly WAY out of line with the tax assessment.

The problem is he used different values when filing his taxes. He inflated values to get loans and shrunk values to pay taxes. That's fraud and it's why he was found guilty of fraud in a civil court.

Trump's appeal, and disdain for him, is not party based.

Doesn't really matter what Trump claims it to be, its up the the lender to get the appraisal done and ultimately approve the deal or not.
This lawsuit is stupid because 1) The lender decides and 2) Tax assessments mean dick

Woah woah woah

We have a long standing tradition of off topic threads here. On that gloomy day we all woke up homeless and shipwrecked on this island, we had no choice. It's properly labeled and should be allowed.

Dude, you can't tell a bank that a property is worth $1.5B and then say it's only worth $400M on your taxes. That's illegal as frick.

Trump has boasted for years about being smart enough to not pay as much tax as he should. Why now?

Seems like a load of bull to me.

Spoiler alert. I fudge my taxes a little when I can?

Doesn't matter the lender is responsible for vetting the financials and if they believe it then they approve.

Good. The Republican Party has been screwing me for 34 years. I am glad I can finally see it. Maybe one day you’ll wake up.

Do you believe Joe Biden is 100% honest on his tax returns?

My question is why isn't the accounting firm who audits the F/S involved in this? Ultimately the auditors would have to sign off that the financials are accurate. Lenders aren't going to loan out a bunch of cash without audited financials.

Exactly. And this is why we have the IRS

And if you still need someone to prove their tax returns, then get rid of the IRS because this is their job, right ?

If the IRS has a problem, they can handle it, not for citizens to be required to see them

Look at Bernie, dude paid 13.6% effective tax rate in 2017. Why didn't he pay his fair share ?

And this my friend is the crux of the problem with the lawsuit to begin with

Have the courts go bitch at the lender for loaning the money

Well in that case it wouldn't be the lender in court, it would be the auditing firm which goes back to my original question.

What the frick does Joe Biden have to do with anything? He released years and years of tax returns and, despite being considered Satan reincarnated by much of the MAGA right, he hasn't been charged with fraud, much less found guilty. I'm not a fan of Biden so you're barking up the wrong tree. I want our governor to run.

Trump hid his tax returns. We're starting to understand why (and it wasn't because he was under audit). It's about to cost him a shite ton of money and the ability to operate any business in the state of NY. There's a good chance he's going to lose Trump Tower.

I get wanting to minimize shite "your guy" did wrong. Totally natural human reaction. But ffs, there comes a point where it becomes straight up denial of facts. This is why people often compare MAGA folks to cult members...it's very similar behavior to the way cult followers look at their leader.

I'll accept that long retort as a no. You do not believe Joe is 100% honest on his return.

Edit) no reason to get bent out of shape regarding the slight veer of topic. I clearly called a sidebar.

That's the whole point. No bank is going to lend money to someone on their own estimates. He'd have to have financial statement verified the an independent third party to get a loan. That's why this whole court case is a bullshite attempt to throw shade on President Trump. Anyone with a functioning brain stem can see what the leftists are trying to do.

Buck Belue can go frick himself. He had one pass and spent the rest of this time handing off the ball to Herschel.
