The next level of space exploration started this morning at 7:20am EST as the new James Webb Telescope launched from French Guiana heading to L2 Orbit. In the next 2-6 months we'll be able to see the universe like never before.

It successfully launched. I have been waiting a long time for this. We will learn so much about the universe from JWST. I am hoping this will reignite interest in Space

yup...now a long 29 day journey to L2 about 1m miles away, then a lot of testing. Really hope we start to see some pictures on late summer.
Pretty crazy the technology here and if 1 of a million things go wrong, we can't fix it with a space walk.
10 years in the making and I am really excited to see the first images later this year

What was the launch platform? Was it one of Elon's rockets?

It's a multinational collaboration. NASA is a big part of the team.

Can we pin this post? Might be a decent distraction during the "dead period"
