Does anyone know the rules available to teams for a player who commits but doesn't have an official visit?

Blue shirt available?
Put the local kids on Hope and a bunch of other scholarships?

I think part of it also includes not sending in a LOI.

But there may be some creative ways around the 25 initial counter rule

Hope and Pell go a very long way. Free room and board and all meals at the team cafeteria, it's practically a full ride. Throw in a few $100 handshakes and a couple of bookstore scams, blue shirt isn't a bad deal at all.

I think it would be really interesting for sure. Not sure blueshirts help us in this scenario as we're ultimately just kicking the can a bit re: initial counters unless that number gets modified or at least is adjustable relative to transfer portal losses.

I'd be really interested in seeing how far you could push the PWO umbrella in a COVID year though.

That was funny. We aren't talking about the tennis team

This is what I found. They can't have any of the 3.

quote:

Was provided an official visit to the campus;

Had arranged, in-person, off-campus contact with a coach; or

Was sent an NLI or other written scholarship offer.

That's what I expected as well.

With no official visit to the school and the coaches grounded as well, that is 2 of the 3 requirements already met.
Just submit a financial request with no LOI and we should have a bunch of opportunities to blue shirt or pwo players.

You’d pay for it in the next class though

Yep. That was my concern on the blueshirt front. Until the NCAA/SEC modify the initial counter rules relative to the existence of the portal (that limit was reduced from 30 to 25 before the portal existed), blueshirts really need to be limited to 1-2/year and only in cases of immediate need for transfers most of the time it seems.

PWO on the other hand, if we can find ways to get guys to come on PWO since we've been unable to visit them in person, could be interesting for some of the more academically inclined targets.

That's the blue shirt rule.

Pwo potentially wouldn't have to hit the qualifier. If I remember the stink about hotrod, the scholarship has to come after the sophomore season has started to avoid the initial counter.

Correct. If they take PWO for 2 years, then you can put them on scholly without impacting IC numbers (still count against 85 obviously).
