Schools won’t be able to offer anything directly. They can do what UGA is doing now by indirectly selling branding opportunities but, otherwise, Oregon and Bama and UGA wont be able promise a recruit anything in the way of compensation as it would violate Title IX (they’d have to then do the same for all other athletes which turns this from name image and likeness into full on making athletes university employees).

Plus, Nike isn’t going to play favorites with schools. Not unless they want to piss off everyone not named Oregon and lose schools to competitors. Nike is going to make business decisions and offer endorsements to proven college players, not recruits. Maybe they offer a bonus to a kid out of high school to attend a Nike school but not to a specific school and Under Armour and Adidas will just follow suit. Capitalism baby

That not only won’t happen, it can’t happen. It wouldn’t just end college sports, it would end a lot of universities trying to keep pace. Lawmakers aren’t going to push for employment, only to loosen restrictions on athletes negotiating third party deals while in school
