Medical Question - sprained ankle

My 10 year old sprained his ankle on a trampoline. It’s not blue or anything but is swollen on the outside of the ankle and he can’t put much weight on it. We iced and wrapped it all afternoon and put him to bed with it elevated.
What’s the general opinion on how long before he’s good enough to move around? Tomorrow? Days? Week? Do I need to go to CVS and buy a crutch?
I’m sure we’ll pay the pediatrician $100 tomorrow to tell us but thought I’d call on the wisdom of the GSB. TIA.

RICE
Nothing a little time can’t heal. Keep it elevated

RICE is correct answer here. Probably good to walk on it once it doesn't hurt to do so, but may want to lay off the trampoline for a little while.
Definitely would recommend taking him to ped or an orthopedic urgent care if there is discoloration or lots of swelling over the next day or so.

Probably get an x Ray to be on the safe...I thought I sprained my ankle in HS but I actually broke it and didn't find out til about a year later.
Start em on rehab asap...you can Google the correct exercises.
IF it's a sprain he should heal pretty quick being that he's a growing kid.

sorry to hear this
if the swelling is down after one day, I would let it be
if not, I'd get the x-ray
good luck

He’s better this am. Still swollen but he can put some weight on it. Ice and wrap for the day.
