There isn't a day, man. It was so fast. I can still see her lying in bed and remember her very last words to me as clear as a bell.

Sorry for your loss fellows. That’s rough. You can’t replace a mother’s love

If it’s horror, I’d go..
1) The Shining
2) Halloween 1
3) American Werewolf in London
4)
5)
Will have to think about 4 & 5. The original Fright Night is very underrated . Not sure if top 5 though

The original Texas Chainsaw Massacre has to absolutely be on there. I would put it at 1 or 2, personally. The Shining is a classic, but I wouldn't have it at the top. I don't even know if I'd have it in the top five.

Also, Jaws spans several genres, but at it's core it is a horror movie in my opinion. If you were asking me my opinion, Jaws would have a spot in the top 5.

Have you seen the “Room 237” documentary about The Shining? If not, it might just change your mind
I like how Kubrick put all those frick Yous to Stephen King in it and the music is disturbing as hell. That’s the key to the best of these type movies imo. That there’s musical note combinations that can make your skin crawl and make you feel uneasy and on high alert scared. Halloween and Shining are top shelf in that department
Jaws is classic. But feels more summer blockbuster to me

1. Any Halloween prior to 2000. Halloween 4 and The Curse of MM is truly terrifying.
2. Henry The Portrait of a Serial Killer is great.
3. Texas Chainsaw
4. House of 1000 Corpses
5. Vacancy
There’s so many more a true top 5 is almost impossible.

The original "Night Of The Living Dead" released in 1968 was the scariest horror film I ever saw. Not blood and gore like some, but absolutely scary.

All this. I am grateful I’m still living after all the dumb things I did as a kid and young adult that could have killed me, but didn’t. I also survived a workplace shooting when I was 37 and cancer when I was 48. I feel like there’s a purpose for me somewhere, but I just don’t know what it is. Maybe I haven’t done yet what the Bible verse in Isaiah Chapter 6 says…..’Here am I. Send me.’

There’s so many. You also have to define horror. You want real life shite or characterized horror? Pinhead was awesome. Jason and Freddy were icons. A newer real, more realistic horror could be Open 24H. The Autopsy of Jane Doe was pretty good too.

This one never did anything for me. I need more than just shocking blood and gore. That’s why Halloween 1 and The Shining are so far superior imo. Or even your favorite Jaws. Because, for the most part, they leave the actual gory parts up to your imagination. Its all about building the uncomfortable tension rather than just chopping people up left and right.
And on that, I will add “The Thing” to my list at #4 for similiar reasons as above. The Kurt Russel original only though. Made by the same fellow that made the original Halloween. Havent seen it in a while. Probably would have been #1 on my list 20 years ago. Might try to find it tonight and may have to re-order top 5

The original is everything you just described about jaws or shining. The franchise didn't become a campy gore fest until part II. I recommend rewatching. It's on Freevee with commercials.

Halloween 2 is as good as the first and along the same lines.

Agreed, almost as good as 1.
But I was talking about Texas Chain Saw. 1 is the only 1. Part 2 is basically a pee wee herman directed sequel, beautiful in its own way, but nowhere near any kind of top ten horror movie list. And from there they just get gorier and gorier. The original is top shelf with very little gore.

Yeah. Not a fan of the chainsaw movies. Check out Dead Birds and tell me what you think.
