He was just holding their Pell Grant checks for them to teach them about savings and investments.

It really is a non issue but a fun narrative to bash LSU about.

I don't disagree... I just think it's laughable that the LSU Athletic Dept thinks anyone is buying "it's fake money"... Had they gone with "it was a stunt by a former player and it was all returned" it would have been a lot more credible.

You know I agree with you 100%.

just say it was a stunt by an idiot former player getting attention and we dont know if was real or fake but players were instructed to return whatever was handed to them shortly after.

The whole story goes away.

Bingo. Just mismanaged and funny to laugh at. But highly unlikely that anything substantive comes out of it.

Isn't that Jontre Kirklin getting some money slapped into his hand at the end of the clip, though?

It surely could be an issue for him since he's a junior and supposed to be coming back for you guys next year.

Jefferson obviously isn't an issue since he's gone. But I'd bet the NCAA is going to want some kind of real assurance Kirklin didn't keep the money and this was just a spoof. Otherwise I can't see how it's not a violation.

Hobnail, you’re good people and I’m glad you contribute to this board so please don’t take offense when I say that I don’t give a frick about your happiness today.

This board is in the midst of a 40 year title drought. I don’t need to be reminded of yet another fanbase who has gotten to experience a euphoria that many of us haven’t or at least haven’t in a very longtime.

Amen.

And fake money, my arse. Deny, deny, deny. I don't blame them, but let's not play dumb here.

SO LSU made it worse as I was wrong (I was a sucker) and it was real money.

Now I still dont think anything happens with it because any players coming back simply give it back.
Burrow got some when they went out and said "I am not a student anymore and my eligibility is up so yeh I got free drinks and food"

BUt man makes me hate OBJ even more for this nonsense.
Just a distraction. I hope LSU removes him from any future engagement with the team.

What an idiot..

Still handled it better than McGarity would’ve. He would’ve had 5s, 10s, 20s, and 100s banded separately and color coded according to player when he handed it to the NCAA without them even asking.

That will be a self imposed punishment (and would have been required if it wasnt self imposed).

Punishment on the program will be tougher than that. But I don't expect anything serious (game forfeit, scholarship forfeit, etc..)
I wouldn't be shocked with a limit on official visits or in-home visits. Baby teeth.

If he's willing to do that in the open, on the field, it begs the question; What's he doing when nobody is watching? That's what's concerning to the NCAA. No SEC program can afford to have the NCAA come and start turning over rocks.

McGarity would’ve returned the CFP trophy on the spot. Have our name erased from the record books. Then get ACCPD involved somehow

And now OBJ has an arrest warrant for spanking the security guard who was hassling players. They need to get him away from their program.
