Still curious as to your thoughts.
The good as I see it: ypc and td's seem better than last September. With Fromm helping us convert 1st downs, we are getting bethere ypg on the ground.
The bad as I see it: tackles for a loss seem worse. And we haven't gotten to the tough part of the defensive line schedule yet.
If I must pinpoint what I'm seeing, most of the improvement is on better performances this season by our tailbacks (chubb, sony, and swift making something out of nothing. Or turning a 3-5 yard gain into 10-20). We do get some plays with good blocking (there are holes). But like last season, we lack push and have lots of missed assignments.
I still am hopeful that this line will gel and get better as the season improves. Next Saturday will be a huge test.

What concerned me the most was that our backs made a lot of those yards themselves... or at least they made them away from what appeared to be the point of attack. Samford wasn't selling out against the run like Nichols did tho. They had to respect our pass more. I was at the game and watched the 1st half pretty closely... second half I started chatting with some folks as I kinda lost interest, but in the second half, we should have owned them...
Those little slants they threw were very effective as were those throws into the soft of our outside zone... I will have to give Samford some credit there... that QB had fantastic touch and vision... especially to sit there and make those throws with our nasty lineman coming at him. We didn't really come out of that defense too much though... at least in the 1st half.
