Tyson Helton doesn't even call the plays at WKU. I want someone who is well established and has a strong history of success. I think that is what Kirby is waiting for. I'm assuming it's a coordinator that is coaching in a bowl game.

Who else did you want? Are you not satisfied with the hire of Smart? He's going to give us one hell of a defense. If anything the OC position is more important than Kirby because of his defensive focus...

It doesn't matter who I want. He hasn't hired a staff (yet). Saying his defense or offense will be good is premature.

I think saying our defense will be good is a good bet. With the talent Kirby will lock up in this state, its hard to imagine us not being solid on both sides. I think you are being a little cynical by not being fully behind Kirby...

Mark Richt did pretty well in recruiting. I think you're telling yourself (and hoping) Kirby is better when you know deep down, they're probably the same. Amirite?

Yeah Mark Richt did really well by having Mack Wilson, Ben Davis, and Marlon Davidson automatically consider/and or put us at the top. Kirby is a better recruiter in my opinion. Mark had 15 years... Why not try something new? Richt essentially admitted he didn't care a whole lot about winning championships when he told the team "Life is about people, not about rings"

geez that is so overblown it's not even funny. Richt cared quite a bit about winning championships, he got up everyday trying to win one. Just because he in fact did not, doesn't mean he didn't try everything he possibly could to get one.

He made that comment to the team behind closed doors as a way of saying how much they all meant ot him. A player tweeted it out and the media ran with it.

some of you richt haters are truly unbelievable.

Okay yes maybe it was overblown. But the point I was trying to make is that everyone should be excited about Kirby and fans shouldn't be holding onto Mark saying it was a mistake. But I think Kirby and the staff he brings in added in with the recruiter he is, should definitely be something to be excited about.

SIAP after a lot of reading on the Bama 247 board, it is all but announced that Pruitt is going back to Bama. This is coming from mods and their supposed "insiders".

ETA: I can confirm now that Pruitt is going back to Bama.

I would rather him go to Bama over Auburn. Bama pretty much gets the players they want anyways so it should hurt our recruiting that much.

Why would he be interviewing at Michigan if this were the case?

If true we might end up with a net recruiting loss relative to Bama. I hope there are good reasons, but we really needed to keep Pruitt and Rocker.

Do we have anything concrete on Pruitt to Bama, or is it just the Red Bull-fueled fever dreams of Finebaum addicts in Central Time?

I understand wanting your staff, your system, but I really just have trouble seeing a decent reason to let Pruitt go. Everything thus far I have enjoyed as a fan except this, I think that is a mistake.

My only thought/consolation in this is that he has a grand slam DC pick in mind. He said earlier in the week that the coordinator hires would be next, and that he wasn't going to fill the assistant positions on his own. He wants the coordinators to have their say in some key positions.

All that said, I'd feel better if he'd go ahead and go public with someone who will chill recruits out - particularly the EEs.
