I’ll preference this by saying I’m not really stat crunching just where I see them, also not taking anyone who played before I started watching UGA football in 1979.

10. Quincy Carter - special spot for me as I remember rushing the field after we beat Tennessee
9. Stetson Bennett IV- some would have him higher I just think you can’t live the guy enough for bringing the natty back to Athens
8. Buck Belue - his ability to hand it Herschel was legendary - run Lindsey run!
7. Hines Ward - just super special player in uga history, literally did it all
6. Jake Fromm - loved watching this guy throw back shoulder passes
5. DJ Shockley - in today’s game Shockley would have been long gone before giving UGA one of its best seasons ever
4. David Greene - I bet if I looked up his stats I wouldn’t love it , but he epitomized doing things the Georgia way in the height of the CMR era. Hobnail boot!
3. Aaron Murray - anyone throw more TDsfrom midfield than Murray? I still cringe when I think Farley.
2. Matt Stafford - I think UGAs rise back to prominence began with the number one recruit in the country coming to UGA , UGA just didn’t pull 5 star qbs before Matt. Chic fil a bowl vs the Hokies was maybe the single greatest comeback I ever witnessed first hand.
1. Erik Zeier - saw him at Marietta and just thought he was stellar , Combination of Zeier , Hastings And Hearst was outstanding

Who’d I forget? How would you rank em? GoDawgs

I’d nix Hines from the list entirely. Great player obviously but an emergency QB with 3 career td passes isn’t making a list like this.

I’d also have Stet above Belue.

I had to listen to some fat Hokie mom screech right behind me for the entire 1st half, she was pretty quiet the 2nd half haha.

That doesn't really leave a ton of guys to rank lol. Jk..if we're going by that criteria and leaving off guys like Tarkenton and Sinkwich I guess your list has most of the right guys but I'd switch some around.

-Murray has to be #1 for me. Best QB, IMO, that UGA has ever had. Our fanbase for some reason I don't understand likes to remember one or two bad things about someone's career (not just murray) and latch onto it as if they never played another snap in their career. Murray had an up and down freshman season (who doens't as a freshman?) on a BAD taem without a ton of support. He improved a good bit the next year when he had more weapons and experience. And in 12 and 13 he was simply phenomenal.
-I struggle on STafford. Everone has known since abotu his sophomore year of HS he was going ot be a blue chip recruit, all-american caliber college player, #1 draft pick, NFL stud. But honestly he didn't really live up to that at UGA. His 08 season was great but his TFr year was honestly bad until abotu the last 2 games, and in 07 was pretty mediocre until jax then we went into overdrive. Not sure if he'd be #2 on here but likely top half for sure
-Much like stafford I struggle with where to put DJ. He was outstanding but it was such a small sample size.
-Stetson definitely above Buck. I know it was an entirely different era of offense but Buck really didn't really do much. Take away one, single play and people would barely remember he even played here.
-As mentiond not sure I'd put Hines on here. He did have a legendary performance against UVA but he wasn't really a QB for us aside from when absolutely needed.

David Greene was the best QB in UGA history.

Greene>Murray>Fromm

Stafford sucked at UGA.

there was a time I probably would have agreed but I just don't see any rational reasioning that would support it anymore. We have extremely fond memories of Greene's tenure here because 1)we won at a level we hadn't seen in 2 decades 2)he was a great guy and great ambassador 3)several unforgettable moments like 01 UT and 02 AU 4) he left as the all times win leader in NCAA history.

When you really dive into it though I don't see why he is a "better QB" than murray. For starters, the defenses Greene had his entire 4 year playing career gave up 30 points in a game ONE TIME. ONCE. Over 4 years. And that was to the eventual national champion. Murray's defense gave up 30 points more than once at the halfway point of his freshman season. Just saying..it's going to be a lot easier to win a lot of games if your defnese does the heavy lifting and you aren't really required to do much. Also it's not murray's fault he didn't win an SEC title like Greene did, whihc I suspect is a big reason people hold greene so high.

Most talented at UGA is fairly easier.

1. Stafford
2. Tarkenton
3. Murray
4. Green
5. Zeier

It's all relative and you obviously have to look at the offenses at the time along with what Dooley was doing and Buck was very good in that context...all SEC in '80 and '81 along with being an exceptional athlete.

Completely agree about Murray and there's zero rational or analytics that would support Greene being better or even better than Fromm.

I swear I didn't wake up on the wrong side of the bed but there is no way Greene is the 4th "most talented" QB we've ever had. When i hear that phrase I think of physical prowess; things like arm strength, body build, agility and speed, etc. Pretty much most of the things that don't involve the mental aspect. Which is the exact opposite of Greene. He was a smart, heady manager that was not very physically gifted. He was slow as dirt and had an average arm. Hell I'd call someone like Dwan Mathis or Christian Lemay "more talented" than Greene, but that doesn't mean they were as good a QB obviously.

Quincy Carter
Had a real “intelligent “ conversation with him on the whole Kirby /Fields debacle on Facebook basically called Kirby a Racist for not starting fields and went on to state his racist times at UGA called trump a Racist .. clearly still enjoys the Cocaine a lot

I paused as well when I first saw but the year criteria in the OP kinda narrows down the choices. I mean there's not really a whole lot of other options. If you ignore all the off-field stuff Quincy was electric in 98, pretty good in 99, but pretty bad in 2000. Any other QB vying for that last spot would need to make a compelling case.
