Nice post cockinyourear. I agree that conditioning has been a big plus for the dawgs this year. I like that we have been playing night games as well which I believe slightly deemphasizes conditioning and puts more of a focus on talent and execution.

I hve noticed in years gone by that the Cocks get off to a strong start and then fade due to a lack of depth. Y'all also usually benefit from catching us early with some key players on the bench. You will catch us in stride with all our grown men available for action. Not talking smack, but I suspect we quiet down the fairgrounds early and end up wing by 15.

Who knows though eh? That's why we play the games.

You guys have better LB's, the other "Push's" we won't know until the game.

Well, something has to give. I hope we are both undefeated when we play USCe.

Yeah, its funny, if you look at the rankings of offense and defense the teams are exact opposites:

UGA USC
Scoring Offense: 9th 30th
Scoring Defense 29th 5th

Total Offense: 13th 55th
Total Defense: 45th 19th

The ONLY advantage USCe has is its a night game at home on national TV....

I don't think it's the only advantage, but it's substantial. That stadium is going to be rocking. We also have DARTH VISOR!

Hey CIYE, how does USCe's dl do against the run?

Right now, we're ranked 8th against the Run.
NCAAFB Rankings

Quarles and Byron are taking up the space at DT's, and we have 4 experienced LB's on the 2 deep that are hitting the right gaps.

I agree, I was just going off overall performance YTD. Upon reflection, with us getting Ogletree back I should have given us the nod.

good comparison. Like I said, it's a sick matchup on paper a lot of things make it even out. I just hope nobody gets an more BS suspensions or injuries so we can see how we matchup when everyone is a full GO.

Here is something to ponder, I really think that Grantham and company have started the year off intentionally rather vanilla. They see what the offense wants to do at the beginning of games and then adjust to it. I have seen very few blitz plays early on in the game. I think this will change as Ogletree and Rambo get their feet wet, mainly because I think you will suddenly see the CB blitzes which have been absent this year. I am interested in seeing how quickly O and R get up to speed, because if they are hitting their stride by late in the UT game, then I think USC is going to be seeing some things which aren't on tape from this year.

You left out what counts most, the matchup in the trenches.

We match up well vs UT with the exception of our DB vs their WR. I don't think there's any doubt that we will get burned for some big passing plays by Bray & Co. Our DL and LB's must get pressure on Bray and have their best game to date. I'm not really worried about our offense because Tennessee's defense just hasn't looked good all season.

My main concern regarding SC is our OL matching up with their extremely talented DL. Hopefully we can have enough of a running game to take pressure off Murray. When we do pass, he needs to get rid of the ball quickly. If our defense can tackle Lattimore for minimal gains then we should be OK. Our DB probably matches up better vs the SC smaller receivers.

UT's a question mark. They just don't seem to be going anywhere. Can't give them any confidence by turning the ball over. If we run downhill like we have been doing and control the ball, it could get ugly fast. They're on the verge of a total collapse IMHO.

We have 2 common opponents with USCe. We cut our teeth on Mizzou and man-handled Vandy. They didn't really light it up against either team. Again, ball control is key. We've got to do a good job of spreading the field and giving Murray some time and RB's some holes. I think we're the better team, especially at skill positions. Will come down to whether or not they can score enough to keep up.

If Murray plays like he has thus far, no way QB's a push. Not even close. Not sayin' he will....just saying if.

I don't think so. Murray is an overall more talented QB but they have both looked very good so far. Shaw has a slightly better completion %, Murray a slightly better rating, very similar yards-per-attempt, same number of INT's, etc. They both manage the game very well.

Based on performance SO FAR, I'm comfortable saying push

Don't get me wrong, I think Shaw's a great QB, perfect for SOS. But you have to look at the overall picture. Murray's running a much more potent offense than Shaw right now. Can't just look at pitches and catches, IMHO.

Well yeah, but comparing the total offensive packages and single positions are different things.
