“Besides the big tackle they’ve got [Brown], I don’t think his interior linemen are any good,” said Oliver, regarding Heisman Trophy winner Baker Mayfield’s protection unit. “Well, I don’t think they’re not any good, but I don’t think they’re SEC linemen. That’s just my opinion.”

Interestingly enough, the unit he’s talking about has three new starters from the group he faced last year, including left guard Ben Powers, center Erick Wren and right guard Dru Samia.

When asked about those changes, Oliver doubled down on his statement.

“Them boys out of the SEC, them some dawgs, especially them boys on the D-line,” said Oliver, who hasn’t played against an SEC team in his career. “Them boys better be ready.

Ed Oliver won the Outland Trophy this year over OU's Orlando Brown. Oklahoma ran for just 70 yards against Houston in 2016, the second fewest in the Mayfield/Lincoln Riley era, and allowed 5 sacks.

To be completely fair though, they played OU in the first game 2 seasons ago. Ou has obviously become much better since that point.

I would agree with that. Just thought his comments as a guy who played against them (in his first career game), along with his opinion on our DL, were interesting.

Also, his head coach was one of only two in the country that voted UGA #1 in their final ballot. Who knew Houston had such appreciation for the Dawgs?

I appreciate the sentiment, but he really has little familiarity with the current OU line, and literally no familiarity with the SEC.

OU's line has graded out very well this year, and the truth is they don't need to be that good. Mayfield probably is at his best when the play breaks down.

It doesn't matter how good their OL is, the main question is can they grab a jersey and hold on tight. If this game follows the script for the rest of our season, OU's biggest advantage will be that they get away with everything and Georgia gets 110 yards in penalties, half of which weren't even infractions.

Rewatched the Kentucky game the other night, when the game was about to get out of hand, we got called for offensive holding two plays in a row, for things that practically never get called holding. Meanwhile, other teams can mug our defensive line for an entire game without fear. They also had a kid leap against the punt shield, just like the play Georgia got penalized for against Auburn the previous week; no call.

And remember this thread, LINK / ? Now we know, that according to the best crew the SEC has to offer that it was offensive pass interference, or not, depending on whether it was committed by Auburn or UGA. In fact, the one committed by Auburn in that video I posted was much more obvious than what Wims did.

And don't forget Swift's "fumble" in the ND game that unequivocally showed not to be a fumble on replay, but still was upheld. I don't think I've ever seen UGA get the bad end of so many calls/no calls as this season.
