Honestly....when I was at UGA - I hated this dude that wanted to hurt UGA football.
As I got older, I realized he was just damn good at this job. Can't fault him for that. Good luck in retirement Jimmy W.

Is he though? I legitimately am not sure...
Uncertain of how accurate this site is: LINK

With a crime rate of 42 per one thousand residents, Athens has one of the highest crime rates in America compared to all communities of all sizes - from the smallest towns to the very largest cities. One's chance of becoming a victim of either violent or property crime here is one in 24. Within Georgia, more than 78% of the communities have a lower crime rate than Athens.
Importantly, when you compare Athens to other communities of similar population, then Athens crime rate (violent and property crimes combined) is quite a bit higher than average. Regardless of how Athens does relative to all communities in America of all sizes, when NeighborhoodScout compared it to communities of similar population size, its crime rate per thousand residents stands out as higher than most.
Now let us turn to take a look at how Athens does for violent crimes specifically, and then how it does for property crimes. This is important because the overall crime rate can be further illuminated by understanding if violent crime or property crimes (or both) are the major contributors to the general rate of crime in Athens.
From our analysis, we discovered that violent crime in Athens occurs at a rate higher than in most communities of all population sizes in America. The chance that a person will become a victim of a violent crime in Athens; such as armed robbery, aggravated assault, rape or murder; is 1 in 225. This equates to a rate of 4 per one thousand inhabitants.
In addition, NeighborhoodScout found that a lot of the crime that takes place in Athens is property crime. Property crimes that are tracked for this analysis are burglary, larceny over fifty dollars, motor vehicle theft, and arson. In Athens, your chance of becoming a victim of a property crime is one in 26, which is a rate of 38 per one thousand population.
This (4.44) is a little higher than the state and national averages of 3.78 and 3.8 per 1000 residents...

Safer than 10% of U.S. Cities
Or in other words... bottom 10%...
Color me a little skeptical that it's that bad... but I never got the overwhelming impression that it was that good either.
I've always seen him as a guy that plays to the local's desires. "Tough on crime". No one is immune... not even the football team. Then capitalizes on opportunities to make sure he gets some headlines that reinforce it, regardless of the state of affairs elsewhere. Could be wrong, but that's always been my read on it.

He started the jihad against all UGA students long before it was the norm. He is an epic assclown. Athens will be better off when he's gone.
