Herschel doesnt hide from his past.
It wont hurt him because he has been a success with his personal growth which resulted from his past.
Woernack has a similar past. He has a lot of verbal baggage from his preaching days. I dont think it ends well for him during a red wave.

I doubt the electronic voting machines that are owned by Dominion Voting systems. As well as, the mail in ballots and the people counting the vote.
