I was baseline court side for game 6. They destroyed us on the boards.

They will probably never be good enough to win the whole thing. Just don't see ownership coming out of the pocket to do what it takes. Our ceiling is a 2nd round bounce and maybe a rare conference finals.

But...but...I thought we fixed all that when we got rid of that "soft" Al Horford and got a badass rebounder, Dwight.

We did fix that. Did you even watch any hawks games? Dwight was fifth in the league in rebounds this year. It's Bud's fault for not having Dwight in the game down the stretch when the games were on the line. Dwight hardly even played in the fourth quarters. Besides one game when he was in foul terrible, it wasn't Dwight's fault Bud took him out.

Yea also the Hawks didn't feed Dwight on the inside as much as they should have. Bud's failure to utilize him properly.

Because hacking strategies are a thing and he has no offense. If he's on the floor late in a close game, he's a wasted possession waiting to happen or he takes your team out of the game with his abominable free throw shooting.

Of course, these are the downsides that come with spending monster money on a one-trick pony. Especially when that one trick is rebounding.

FFS, please tell me what dominating offensive prowess you've known Dwight to have. He hasn't had a good offensive season in like 7 years.

That tells me he either has no real offensive game or any game he has doesn't translate to the way the game is being played right now.

In the regular season, Dwight had the highest FG% in his career at 63%. The problem is that he also averaged the least number of shots in his career. Definitely not his fault. He also had his highest FT% in 5 years at 54%.

Its not his fault that he averaged almost 5 less minutes a game in the post season. He shot 54% against Washington, and was shooting 60% from the free throw line. 3-3 in the final game when he only played 20 mins.

Dwight was great for this team this year, and did his job well. Much better than what we would have gotten from Horford.

The Hawks need a bench. When Ilyasova and Muscala are your two bigs off the bench, you have a problem. The front office is going to have to spend money on it this offseason because Schroeder, Millsap, and Howard carried this team all year.

Well that's a dumb reason to not play him when he is soley there to grab rebounds. Even more Buds fault is that's why he didn't play him. Like they are really going to foul him everytime he gets a rebound.

He was a big part of closing out games in the regular season and Bud tried to go away from what got us there. Bud totally mismanaged the roster all series.

Truly impressive, and doesn't refute anything I said.

Because Budenholzer isn't an idiot and isn't going to waste his time giving him anything but dunks. You throw it down to Dwight more than 6 feet away from the hoop where he actually has to dribble and you are wasting a possession unless he passes it out.

FIFY. If you take Millsap off this team, which may happen this offseason with our cracker-jack front office, we're a 30-win team watching ping pong balls.

And that may be the way to go rather slowly sliding further into the abyss.

Sadly, tanking and nailing high draft picks is the way to build a team in the NBA. Golden State got Curry and Thompson with lottery picks. Cleveland has gotten LeBron, Kyrie, and Tristan Thompson with lottery picks. Oklahoma City got Durant, Westbrook and Harden this way.

A good, realistic model for what the Hawks should try to emulate is Utah. Utah has hit with Gobert and Hayward and put together a solid team around them. They're probably the best young team in the league right now and if they can keep their core together, they'll be a perennial contender for a decade and make at least one Finals appearance.

I actually think we've got some interesting young pieces. I love Taurean Prince. He fits Bud's system perfectly and plays his arse off every night.

I'm not as big a Schröder fan as some, but he's really starting to come into his own and went punch-for-punch with Wall in a few of the games. Also, while I don't think THJ is a long-term starter I definetly want him on the roster going forward because he can flat out score.

The problem is Millsap is aging and Howard doesn't fit the design of the team. Our best move may be to trade Millsap and start building around the young guys, but damn it's going to suck missing the playoffs for the first time in a decade.

Al was never a huge presence as a rebounder. He's a good all around player but getting boards was never one of his biggest strengths so he wasn't going to be helping all that much in this series.

Dwight is a whole different story.

Part of me wants to let him walk and do our best to build around Schroeder and Prince and see what happens.
