Let's take Burrow, he is the same guy from last year, but is somehow the front runner for the heisman trophy....

Regardless, his points are correct. Fromm was money for most of the first two seasons with a plethora of good receivers to throw to and now that he doesn’t have reliable receivers this season, his numbers are off. What do you think is more likely: brainiac and film rat QB suddenly forgets how to play, or that he’s not on the same page with those around him?

Do you go to the bathroom every time he overthrows, underthrows or just misses the receiver? He's not been good this year and I would expect his QB coach to praise him. Even on his TD to Pickens Saturday, the ball was severely underthrown.

Agree that he has regressed this year but the throw to Pickens was exactly what a QB
is supposed to do when a WR is THAT wide and can virtually walk into endzone. You don't lead the receiver, you throw it directly to em.

Who do you think has better receivers, Burrow or Fromm? You do also realize that Burrow is a grad transfer, right?

Grad transfer has nothing to do with it, he is literally the same person throwing to the same WRs. Scheme and playcalling grossly improved.

Why do folks set up this false choice? In the UGA offense Burrow obviously wouldn't have the same numbers, but that's not really the question. Is it?

The question is whether his numbers would be better than Fromm's and whether the offense would be better than it is. For any number of QBs that answer is obviously yes. I honestly don't understand why this is still an argument.

The fact is Fromm needs to be better, and we're riding with him no matter how anyone feels about it.

It wouldn’t be a bad or wrong thing to make a better throw there.

Their wrs wouldnt look as good as they do if they had Fromm, and ours would look better than they do if they had burrow.

Maybe but you don't want to lead the guy.Its a simple and safe pitch and catch.
Any QB would do the same.

But only confident and accurate Qbs should try a better throw. Fromm’s underthrew was exactly what he should have done.

Fromms biggest issue is loft on long or wide open throws. The constant worries about turnovers makes him flatten the trajectory when he should hang the ball up. Stafford also suffered with this.

When his response to Fromm not even completing 50% of his passes is "so what", you're damn right I dismiss
If he would've left it at "so what?" then you might have a point, but he didn't. He was saying there is more important things than simple stats, which he's right about, though Fromm's stats overall are still very good for this season and would've been more than acceptable in years past.

quote:

Fromm shouldn't be mentioned within screaming distance of Tom Brady.
Ah, so you're one of those people who don't understand comparisons and analogies. That's a pity.

quote:

The situations are not similar. Tom Brady has had new receivers and no name receivers throughout his career, and it has never affected him. In fact, talking heads have always joked about how it didn't matter who Brady was throwing to. The simple fact is he's 42 and his skills are deteriorating.
He's had individual receivers come and go throughout his career but he's had a his entire receiving group changing all season. There's a big difference between subbing in one or two guys from season to season and replacing all your receiving group. That's essentially where UGA is, too, thus the comparison.

Again, it's a logical fallacy. Bias may color motive but it can't change facts.

You should understand the issue with such bias, but since it supports your own bias, you are choosing to ignore that.
Not true. Again, I've called out Fromm for missing throws or not playing sharp in the past. I'd be doing more of that if this board weren't taken over by fans with such a shallow understanding of the game.

quote:

That guys aim was to paint Fromm in the manner which makes Fromm look far better than he has been, and he did exactly that, which proves my COI point.
I don't think the intent was to make Fromm out to be perfect or much better than he is. It was to provide a different perspective from those like you who have no idea what you're talking about because you refuse to look past the superficial elements on the field. There are a lot of moving pieces in football that have to work correctly for you to play well consistently, especially at the QB position. Those moving parts are often times overlooked when you're frustrated and desperately looking for one throat to choke, as they say.

quote:

As expected, you loved it when he ignored Fromm missed open passes and deflected his diminished his completion %.
I didn't "love" anything about the article. It's just one among many that try to provide perspective.

That said, the deficiencies weren't completely ignored. The comparison to Brady's struggles was a commentary on what Fromm has been doing. He just didn't specifically call out missed throws or anything else because that wasn't the point Morris wanted to get across. And, like myself and others have said, all QBs miss throws. The question is why has our passing offense as a whole been so lackluster. Pointing out a dozen throws out of several hundred throughout the course of the season doesn't explain that by itself.

quote:

Bringing up a team accomplishment to excuse this struggles is weak. They are 2 different subjects.
Not exactly. Fromm's play on the field--specifically his TD to INT ratio--is a huge contributor to our team's success. Even in spite of long droughts of efficient drives in the second half of the season especially, Fromm has done enough to help our team achieve its goals so far.

quote:

Correct. I only discussed what fromm’s biased coach said. The other issues were brought up by chip towers, and while they are real factors, none of them explain away Fromm missing open guys too often.
You're going to have to let go of this "missing open guys too often" complaint. Yes, he could improve there, but that is only a small piece of what has gone wrong with our offense this season. Sometimes missing open receivers isn't the fault of the QB, by the way. Sometimes it is, but not always. I've yet to see such a concession by you or any of the other irrational posters here.

Those stat increases would be huge.
Not overall to our team. There have been opportunities missed by our receivers, too, that could have given us the same or similar result, BTW.

quote:

Fromm has played a much major role in the “bigger problems” than you are willing to admit.
He's play a role in it but it's obvious to anyone with a brain regarding what is going on with our offense: Fromm is told to protect the ball above all else. He doesn't trust his receivers who keep running bad routes and dropping passes that him them in the hands or between the numbers and they aren't doing much to help him when he's not perfect. They aren't consistently getting leverage and separation and Fromm is forced to check down often because he doesn't want to force any throws into dangerous situations and coverages. Fromm is responsible for some bad misses this season, but that doesn't account for much in the grand scheme of the season.

quote:

If Fromm provided a more consistent downfield threat by throwing good passes to open wrs, it’s very likely the “bigger problems” you love to focus on wouldn’t be big problems to begin with:
Again, there's more to it. Yes, Fromm has missed on some low percentage throws (I'm going to now ignore the pass to Herrien in the rain since it's an extreme outlier) but there is more to a miss than the QB's throw. Bad routes and bad timing can just as easily cause a miss as a QB simply being off target.

quote:

1. Opposing Defenses would be forced to account for it, which should help open up the run game and the underneath passing game.
True, but he's also hit a lot of deep passes this season. You honestly think hitting a few more is going to drastically change the way the defense plays? It's more likely that we're going to run the ball or throw a short to intermediate pass than we are to throw a deep ball so defenses are almost always going to stack the box against us even if Fromm hits those passes 100% of the time. The way we run our offense dictates how the defense plays us.

quote:

2. Opposing offenses would likely have to adjust their overall strategy, thus making them more predictable.
False. Overall strategy is always the same. We rely on our run game to set up the pass and we try to pound defenses into submission on the ground. Every game is the same: stack the box and force throws to the outside. That was the MO for defenses for the past three seasons while Fromm has been our QB, and he didn't exactly play poorly the past two seasons.

quote:

Result: a better overall team. Better chances of winning sec and national championships. You know, the opposite of myopic.
Ironically, you've shown time and time again the myopathy of your football analysis. You think that everything would be different if Fromm were better yet I haven't seen you make arguments that the bad routes, lack of awareness and physicality, or the inconstant catching to keep drives going has been a big contributor to our offensive woes. It's almost as if you think the offense is working just fine except for at the QB position. That's the short-sightedness I'm talking about.

Nope. Check the game threads. I usually make a comment when I see a bad throw.

quote:

He's not been good this year and I would expect his QB coach to praise him.
Again, his stat line alone would say differently, but even if you just look at our inability to move the ball throughout the season, you have to examine all the reasons why. Fromm isn't a one-man team out there. He relies on many other guys to be successful and if everyone isn't doing their job, no one is going to look good.

And his QB coach/tutor runs a company that works with dozens of QBs throughout high school, college, and even the NFL. While it's not in his best interest to dog on anyone in his program, there's no need to say something like "Jake Fromm is one of the best quarterbacks in SEC history. You can quote me on that." That goes beyond simply sticking up for a client, especially when he's got other clients in the SEC. It's a bit much to say that everyone who is blaming Fromm is crazy unless he sees something others don't.

quote:

Even on his TD to Pickens Saturday, the ball was severely underthrown.
Sure was, and if there was any real danger in doing that on that particular play, I would've had an issue with it. Fromm hasn't had good timing with his receivers all season and has a few over throws on Pickens in particular with Pickens not going full speed the entire route or not being able to get off the defender fast enough, causing balls to be further down field than the receiver is. Fromm did what he's done all season on that play: played it safe. He lobbed it knowing that it was a broken coverage play and he would rather under throw it than risk another over throw. It worked. If Fromm threw it like that to Cager, I might have a different opinion.

Bias said “so what?”about fromm’s Accuracy problems, so it can certainly dismiss facts.

If so, I guess he did it unintentionally then. Had nothing to do with his bias.

I don’t think many are overlooking them, but That’s a different discussion. I only blame Fromm for obvious Fromm mistakes, and you always try to spin the discussion away from that, and back into “overall” problems. That’s the issue with bias such as yours and his own coach.

quote:

The question is why has our passing offense as a whole been so lackluster.

No, it isn’t. Thats just your spin attempt. “Ask David Morris what’s wrong with Jake Fromm”.

quote:

Even in spite of long droughts of efficient drives in the second half of the season especially, Fromm has done enough to help our team achieve its goals so far.

It’s only been enough because our defense gives up 10 points a game and our kicker is also one of the best in the nation.

Sure, but that’s rarely been the problem in November, though I am certain you and his coach would try to spin some of them that way.

I think it would change it enough to notice a difference. Kirby made the comment about seeing stacked boxes 10% more this season than last. Is that a coincidence?

quote:

False. Overall strategy is always the same.

Talking about the opposing offense, not the uga offense.

quote:

You think that everything would be different if Fromm were better

If by everything, you mean yards, first downs, TOP, and points, then yes.

Our wrs haven’t had a major drop problem, so why would I bring such a claim up? I expect our qb to make open passes when the wrs do what they need to do to get open. When these plays happen, Fromm misses way more than they drop, thus the focus on Fromm.

You already know I think that Fromm improving on this would make our whole offense and team better, and I know you want to downplay his role.

Just because I think Fromm has played the biggest single role in our struggles doesn’t mean other areas don’t also have room for improvement. It’s important that you understand that. Feel free to paint that as “myopic”, but I don’t think that fits well at all.

Hopefully, Fromm will prove me wrong today.
