Had my right knee scoped on December 17. Three separate tears in the meniscus all the way to the posterior horn.

I'll be cleared to run for soccer on February 21; my recovery will take longer because of my job requirements (driving 1200-1500 miles per week as a OTR sales rep), plus my doc said it was one of the worse meniscal injuries he'd ever seen.

Houston County is centrally located with two good stadiums in Mcconell-Talbert and Freedom Field and has the infrastructure to support lodging for traveling families if need be. Freedom Field is probably comparable with Mercer’s Stadium, but let’s be real they won’t ever move it out of Atlanta.

Atlanta is closer to the average Georgia resident than Macon.

https://www.wlns.com/top-stories/each-states-population-center-visualized/

quote:

GEORGIA: Newton County Between the banks of the South River in the west and the Yellow River in the east sits Rocky Plains Elementary School, about 30 miles outside of Atlanta. And just south of the school, before the two rivers empty into Jackson Lake, lies the population center of Georgia. The center of population 20 years ago was about six miles farther south and east, on the lake’s southern shores. That’s a sign that the Atlanta metro area is growing faster than the rest of the state’s population centers in Augusta, Savannah, Macon or Columbus.

About 12ish years ago I worked in Gwinnett with some guys that did GHSA. 2 of em did football, one initials J.R. and another S.F. JR was a bit higher up I think, he actually was in the movie remember the titans as a ref and got a speaking part.

One guy D.S. was a baseball official but he did SEC/ACC at the time, not sure if he got his start earlier in GHSA or not.

One of the founders of our association is a retired ACC Linesman.

It's an easy surgery; mine took less than an hour.

Recovery wise, I was off hydrocodone in 2 days and haven't taken any OTC pain killers in 2 or 3 weeks. I do have some residual bursal swelling, so I am on an anti-inflammatory for the next 2 weeks that should clear it right up.

"Atlanta should have required Blank let the GHSA use it for free since MBS was partially tax payer funded"

Could NOT agree more. The last two years our school "Prince" has made the state championship. Winning it under your future QB Brock. Lost last year to a stacked Trinity team who they beat the year before.
Sucked being out in the elements in a converted baseball stadium. The issue with here in Athens is lodging and logistics I would think. But Atlanta make the most sense in the Benz...

I lived in Texas for many years and each year it flipped between Jerry World (Cowboys) and Houston in the Texans stadium (Whatever it is called these day)
Indoors and out of the elements. Great facility...

What has been most interesting is the GISA vs GHSA and how many (the majority) of Private schools have bailed out of GHSA...
There is no longer a 1A private division of all private schools. Prince for example is now in Division 1 with schools like Oglethorpe, Jefferson, Social Circle etc.

Dont get me started on GHSA Softball State Championships being in Columbus about as far from everyone in the State of Georgia you can be. (in an outdate facility to boot)

I hate that it’s at Turner field and didn’t like the dome either.. I hate that the city of Atlanta gets the benefit of the tourism.

They should be at home stadiums, where the restaurants and local businesses that have supported the teams all year can benefit some.. not Atlanta.. who rarely has a team there to start with. If they need a bigger stadium; then let the home team make that decision on move it to a larger stadium closer to its location..

There was no reason Brooks and zircon needed to play in Atlanta when Valdosta State could have hosted.. same goes for Fitz and Thomasville; Carver-Col and Benedictine could have played in Savannah or Statesboro or Macon..; Just saying.. they do it different gif baseball.. football could to.

They have changed baseball in the last 2-3 years.

All the finals series are at neutral sites. The Rome Braves stadium has hosted finals the last 2 years.

This year, the finals are at Coolray Field (Gwinnett), Truist Park (Atlanta), and Grayson Stadium (Savannah).

Most of these kids will never get close to MBS, either as a player or fan. It's a once-in-a-lifetime thing for most of these kids. Plus the participating schools do get some of the cut of the gate.

It belongs at MBS.
