I agree with this philosophy and one of the traits of the "better" coaches is the ability to get the most out of the players they have to work with. Having said that, execution is required regardless of scheme/play calling. This is why fundamentals and frankly talent are so important. If your OL is getting whipped regardless of the scheme and if your offense in general is not able to execute their blocks at the point of attack, then your offense is not going to be successful. At this point you are left with some type of finesse play on every key down designed to fool the defense/get them out of position so you don't have to rely on blocking. This is damn hard to do against any disciplined defense taught to stay at home/cover their position.

I understand what you are saying, but we have some freshmen and sophomores that do fit their scheme. I am guessing here, because i can't read the minds of the coaching staff, but I am thinking that maybe they are wanting to get those freshmen and sophomores experience in their scheme, so when they are ready next year they will be physically able to run the scheme, and have experience in that scheme.

Then run that scheme with those players on the scout team and play the game with the intent to win today, not train for next year.

You can't run the scheme with the scout team. the scout team runs the opponents offense you are facing that week. they could only get reps working with the 2nd or 3rd string OL, and maybe a little during the off week. It would be impossible for the coaches to run one scheme while coaching a completely different scheme.
Again.....I am only guessing, but I am guessing that the coaches saw the talent we have on the team, and felt it was best in the long run to go ahead with the new blocking style/scheme and hope for the best this year. Maybe hope the current players could somewhat adapt and then be set and ready to go next year.

Well, it's obvious the coaches were wrong.
I was joking about running their scheme with the scout team, but if you don't have the right players for the scheme you prefer, then adapt to one that will work better. This season is making the entire offensive staff, and the HC, look really, really bad. No wonder there are so many pissed off fans.

Understood. Hopefully it will pay off with some big dividends next year. I hope so, anyway. And, remember. I was only guessing.
