We were at the game but Sunday we watched the replay. We watched the skycam version. The ESPN announcers were not on. Instead the play was silent except for the stadium announcer. Very refreshing not to hear the constant blather.

They pipe in way more crowd noise. You can hear the bands, hear the PA announcers and get a sense of momentum at the game.
The only problem is that SkyCam still has too many blind spots and the camera angles can get janky. I don't understand why they don't just use a drone. It would seem way less expensive than hanging metal cables in a bunch of different stadiums and moving SkyCam from cable to cable.

If they could use the network feed without the announcers it would be perfect. With the Skycam there were almost no replays of significant plays.

^^^ The NFL broadcast is even shittier and more useless. At some point they decided that miccing up the quarterback made for good television. Some people thought that it was cute when Peyton Manning said Omaha and other quarterbacks use silly words for audibles, but mainly it causes the game to sound like it's being played in a sound booth and you can get no feel for crowd noise and momentum.

I mute the sound because I know what's happening without commentary.
Plus those clowns on the sidelines were a joke.
Plus 2/3 of the telecast is commercial breaks and I definitely don't want to hear the commercials.

I used to mute the TV and listen on the radio when Munson was on but the radio announcers now irritate me and I seldom listen to them.

I didn't see the option last week, but in earlier games this season, ESPN 4K on YTTV had zero commercials and cut to a crowd camera in the corner of one of the endzones at breaks.

I haven't listened to ESPN announcers for years. Only time I unmute is when I can't figure out what happened on a penalty. Then I quicky re-mute before Herbstreit or one of his buddies starts telling me why the call against UGA was obviously correct, or the call against the other team was questionable.
