poll of who the board thinks should start vs UF?

Up vote Fromm, Down vote Fields

The board looks split to me. No absentee ballots and no write ins please.

Fromm should start but have a very, very short leash. If Kirby is any kind of coach, he'll spend the next two weeks getting Fields ready and if Fromm is even remotely off, put Fields in and lets find out what he can do.

Fromm, you have to go with the guy who has the most experience. Even though he has been average.

We'll see what Kirby thinks soon, that's why he gets paid the big bucks

Most of this board thought what Dabo did benching KB over TL was dumb and now advocate for the exact thing over here

Amazing times

Fields needs to play a lot more but benching Fromm is not the answer

Pretty much how I feel.

We have all seen Fromm play QB at an extremely high level against elite competition. We have that evidence. The thing that bugs me the most is why we are seeing him regress...is it Coley? Chaney? Kirby? It just doesn't make much sense. Maybe he had just a horrific game Saturday that we will look back on as an anomaly. That type of stuff happens in sports. Time will tell.

I do believe that Fields has earned a right to get several series a game based on what we have seen. However, I also think there is a reason the coaches wouldn't let him loose on Saturday. They are the ones evaluating these kids every day and studying hours of film on our opponents so I defer to their expertise. If Fromm continues to play as poorly as he did Saturday, I am all for a change at QB; however, up to this point he has played well outside of the game last week and I just can't help but to think that he really does have the ability to play QB at an extremely high level because we have seen him do it.

The problem is Fields should have gotten more playing time up until now, and he should have been allowed to throw it more. He would be more ready if something happened to Fromm, injury or otherwise. You can only develop so much in practice.

Fields. My reasons:

(1) Fields is more talented and has a bigger upside.

(2) Fields completely makes since with our current offense. We’re set up to maximize his and our current playmakers strengths given his freakish athletic ability.

(3) There’s no film on him. He definitely has a chance to perform at a high level when defenses can’t really gameplan for him.

(4) Do we want to risk losing him? I understand players shouldn’t have much of a say so on who plays or doesn’t, but with his talent, we can’t risk him transferring.

(5) All that aside... Do any of you in your sane minds actually believe we can beat Alabama this year? It’s better to play the young guy (again I know) take your lumps, and prepare for a title run in 2019 or 2020.

Go Dawgs!

I could actually go along with this. I would give him at least three series, though. is that short enough for you, or would you want it shorter?

Just answering this part. No. I don't think we can beat Alabama this year. But I didn't think we would do what we did last year, either....and at this point in the season last year never thought we could beat Alabama.

but, I understand your other points.

I would say two, but it's totally dependent on how the game is going and whether Florida has a lead. Three is certainly enough to know if Fromm is not performing well.

I agree 100% with you. My question is, is that because the coaches are afraid that he'll fall on his face due to what they have personally seen in practice, or are they just content with Fromm? We can't say for sure.

We’re using Fields the same way we would use a WR in the wildcat. It doesn’t make sense. If we can add the throwing element, I’ll like the formation significantly more.

Even if we are winning a game, we should let Fields throw the ball more. Give him a chance to learn how to read college defenses. In short, I agree with what you are saying.

So you think Eason should have been our qb last year.

The leash gets longer the worse Fromm plays.

I would prefer two things. One, Fromm should start and have the 1st half to play. If we are behind and/or looking bad then Fields gets the 2nd half and Kentucky if he looks good.
The second thing is that I hope to hear Chaney is back coaching the QBs and Coley is handling the TEs.
Chaney could be the key to settling Fromm down and restoring his confidence. Chaney brought Fromm along quite well last season.

I did at the first of the year, didn't you?

I mean, once Eason was hurt we didn't have much choice. but I was 100% thinking Eason needed to be the QB at the start.
