Some a-hole on secr is saying we injured another TE today. True?

Don't you mean Clemson's Dline that was overpowered by Ohio St and Notre Dame
Yes. Nice catch. I mean Clemson's DLine. And this is not last year. Two from that line are coming back with another years experience and they will be joined by Bryan Bressee and Myles Murphy.
But yes. I did mean their DLine.

Bresee and Murphy started for Clemson last year. Their DL will be damn good no doubt. But our OL will be very good as well.

Really? I was showing Tyler Davis, Justin Foster, Nyles Pinckney and KJ Henry as the starters with Bressee and Murphy first off the bench. The depth chart I was looking at could be wrong, so I am not saying you are wrong. Either way, if they did indeed start, then they will be returning a ton of experience. Right now thye project
DE Murphy
DT Bresee
DT Davis
DE Foster
Any way you slice it, it is a veteran line with tons of potential. That said, I do agree and think our OLine is excellent and will be better than a lot of people think. But with it in flux it worries me that we may not be at our best in the first game of the season.
Like I said.....I hope you guys are right and we dominate them across the Lines. I just don't see it right now. I do tend to believe that our OLine is stronger than their OLine and our DLine is stronger and deeper than their DLine. How they match up will determine the outcome, and their defensive coach is outstanding. I tend to be more nervous and negative going into big games, though, so hopefully I am being unduly negative now.

I didn't check their depth chart and admittedly only watched 2 of their games (ND/OSU) but I thought both of those guys started both games. Definitely could be wrong.
I don't think our OL will dominate their DL but I think they'll hold their own. I do believe that our DL has a decided advantage against their OL though. I also think that their def. back end (LB and Secondary) are very weak in pass coverage. I especially expect Cook to have a big day against their LB's in coverage. Quick passes to him also helps our OL.

They played lots of guys on the DL but I believe both were the primary starters and Clemson playing a ACC schedule enables them to play lots of freshmen early and often. Its a nice advantage to have

What I read could have been wrong. It was a depth chart online, and it could have reflected just one game or been completely wrong. That said...if they did start that gives them even more experience and would mean they would be returning everybody except KJ Henry.
(The depth chart might also have been an early season one that i saw and those guys might have taken over by ND and Ohio State)
quote:Maybe. The only thing I took exception to was that our OLine might overpower their DLine. hey...I hope Dawgrff is right and that is what happens. He probably knows more about it than I do. I quit watching from a technical standpoint long ago.

quote:Yes. I do, too. I think our front 7 will be considered one of the best (top 3) in the nation at the end of the season.
I do believe that our DL has a decided advantage against their OL though.
I am very excited about what I am reading and hearing about what Monken is doing.

Freshman Jared Wilson is also turning heads in camp. 3 star my arse.

Yea I don't get this. Dude hasn't even taken a snap.

They may be basing it off what they are seeing in fall practice and where he may end up on the depth chart.

Interesting that they named one of our lower rated recruits a freshman All-American while ignoring other more highly rated recruits. I understand that they try to also predict who will get plying time, but we have some really good DBs that will probably see plenty of action, too.
I think IOL will be a place we will need some depth, too, so it's good to hear.

Freshman all american is an overrated award.
If you are a true freshman starting in a P5 school, you have great odds of winning regardless of the quality of play/film.
It is curious that espn gives the award to a player who is potentially 4th off the bench at guard this year. But this is espn we are talking about

Again, he hasn't taken a snap. Could be a bust. Why don't we let the kids play first eh?

Because then ESPN couldn't list a true freshman All American team.
Let's face it- as fans, we crave content. We need something to click on, read, satisfy our need to know and feel involved. We need to discuss and argue. That's what sports media is all about Charlie Brown.

Waiting for the season to start with 10 days to go is the worst part of the year.

No one disagrees with this. AllDawg didnt understand why someone who hasnt taken a snap yet, was named to a true freshman all-american team. The argument wasnt why is this a list...but why is someone who hasnt taken a snap...on the list
