The combine is upon us, and we will hopefully be getting a better idea of who the falcons are looking to drafting this year.

Who do yall hope the Falcons will pick up in the 1st round?

Unrealistic dream:
Alec Ogletree. Not even a UGA fan, but the talent on D coming out of UGA this draft is not only unreal, but exactly what we need. I wish the DUI would hurt his draft stock and send him on down our way, but more likely than not no teams will care.

Borderline possible:
Sam Montgomery- Of course, this is a homer pick, but the lack of explosiveness on the D-line this year was terrible. Plus, since the off season his draft stock has been going down, so maybe it could be possible.
Johnathan Banks- About the only thing that made that State D somewhat okay. I have heard we will pick up a corner through trade or free agency, but in a passing league like the nfl is, you can never have to much talent at CB.

More than likely:
Alex Okafor: Have seen many mock drafts predicting him to be our first pick. I don't know much about the kid, but have heard he could be playing DE/OLB

Do not want:
Tyler Eifert- Have also heard rumors of him becoming the first pick, but I don't think he is worth our first pick. With so many needs on D and the possibility of Tony G coming back, it would seem like a waste of a pick.

Who you looking for at RB?
I would be pissed if we went for Lacy with the #1 pick.
Yes, he has talent, but we don't need a RB like that anymore. We did some of our best work out of the shotgun, lets get a RB built for that kind of Offense.

Not sure who'll be left in the 3rd. I think Lacy will last till the 2nd... coupla guys that look ok are...

Stepfan Taylor, Stanford, kinda short, a bowling ball guy...

Mike Gillislee, Florida, prototypical rb...

Christine Michael, Texas A&M, not much buzz on him but he's gonna be good...

Later in 5-6 round I'd take a chance on Spencer Ware or Michael Ford, a coupla your LSU guys...

Hell I think Rex Burkhead from Nebraska will be a decent late round pick...

You're looking for Giovanni Bernard (UNC) or Andre Ellington (Clemson). This class is much deeper at DE than it is at RB, so I'd rather see the best RB off the board go in the first round then worry about DE in the second. One of the two FSU guys between Carradine and Jenkins will be around in the second.

Lacy is a more complete back than he's given credit for. I wouldn't mind seeing him taken 1st and then platoon him with Quizz for awhile. The offense was at its best in the playoffs when Ryan was under center and hitting the deep ball to Julio and Roddy off of play action.

Too injury prone. If you want to take a chance on someone like that, Lattimore would be a much better option.

I honestly don't know if I would even attempt to try them out, unless it was just we got the people we need and need someone to experiment with.
I love my LSU players, but neither of them seem to be NFL material.
But that could all change. Who knows, maybe they will both looked improved at the combine.

I am not sure what to think about Montee Ball.
I was a little surprised though not to see him predicted to go to the first round, seeing how good his whole college career has been.

Call it the Wisconsin RB Syndrome. Ron Dayne, Anthony Davis, John Clay, Brian Calhoun, etc... They all look like system RBs who ended up sucking in the NFL.

For the DL I like that Ansah (Sp?) from BYU, he is very raw but has been blowing it up lately and I also like Hunt from SMU, he is a huge guy at like 6'8 280 reminds you a lot of JJ Watt. Cornelious Washington might not be a bad pickup for us as a developing pass rusher, he did really really good during the Senior Bowl when rushing from the end in a 4-3. I'm not a huge fan of Okafor from Texas but a lot of people have been saying that is who we'll go after.

At RB if we could get Bernard from UNC that would be awesome but I think he will be off the board before we pick, but guys like Lacy, Bell, Ball, or maybe even take a chance on Lattimore late wouldn't be bad at all.

As for LB, if Minter out of LSU fell to us I wouldn't mind if we got him, he had a very quiet but great year having 2 20 tackle games if I remember correctly. Jon Bostic or Jenkins from UF would be two decent picks to develop at LB and obviously if Tree fell to us because of the DUI it would be stupid for us not to get him.

Do y'all think there is a possibility that TD makes a move like he did to get Julio for somebody this year. Our Super Bowl window is starting to close just a bit with some of the key guys getting older so I was just wondering if he would take a chance to get a big time difference maker. Not saying I want him to do this really because I think we can still get some very good quality players where we stand in the draft.

I have seen this everywhere, and I don't get it. If anything, I think our Super Bowl window is just getting bigger.
If Tony G doesn't come back, it will be a hit. But Ryan had a breakout season, the D look better last year than years before (which isn't saying much) and Julio hasn't even touched his prime.

Thats why I think no. When we traded all the picks for Julio, it was sorta a desperation move to get into the Superbowl talk, and it worked. We are already in it, and don't need to make that kind of move again.

I do like Minter as a LB. He was the leader of LSU's D, which showed when he got injured against Florida, and they finally produced offense to score a TD. I think he, like Olgetree though, will be pick early. I know no one has predicted Minter to go early, but I think that will change soon.

I don't think it is very close to closing but the next year or two are gonna be the years we win it if we do with this particular group, TG is getting old and may not come back, Roddy is starting to get a little age on him, John Abraham our best pass rusher is starting to get up there in age, Babineaux is past his prime, and I think some of our secondary contracts are soon running out. Of course we have plenty of youth on this team that will be great for years and years to come, but we are not far off from losing some key pieces.

I think it definitely should, he is very underrated in all the mock drafts I've seen that have him going late in the first round. He will be a huge steal in the draft if he slips past the 15-18 range.

Well if minter and ogletree are destined to go early maybe we should get both of them drunk enough to get arrested for public intox to make their stock fall a bit

Not to mention Big Ten runningbacks in general haven't really fared well in the NFL.

Never really thought about it but you're right. Best one in the league right now is probably Rashard Mendenhall. Larry Johnson had one or two really, really good seasons in Kansas City and then fell off the map when he got a contract.

You are one funny SOB. Super Bowl window, what the hell are you talking about.

We have won one playoff game in the 5 year regime of TD/MS/MR. One rookie QB should have beaten us and the other one did.

Look for a backward slide this year as the OLine continues to suck, Ryan disappears in big games and TD continues to be befuddled by trying to find a pass rush only to be left with his dick in his hand.

Abraham (bad), Grimes (bad) and Turner (good) have played their last game as a Falcon.

Note that WRs don't win Super Bowls.

What do, what do after year 6 with maybe just one playoff win and no trophy???? Stay the course???
