Rough hit for Lawrence there. Syracuse seems to be their bugaboo team.

Why do UGA fans of all people think this is on Dabo? We watched for years as Richt was loyal to older players vs more talented new players. Dabo went with the better QB and Bryant got pissed.

Because Dabo named the Freshman the QB over the established senior and Lawrence has looked like hot garbage all day until he got hurt.

Dabo should have just kept playing them both there was no reason to name Lawrence the starter.

Lawrence was getting plenty of time to play with Bryant there. Making the move he made was the right thing for Bryant (and I do blame Bryant for choosing to leave, too), but this is going to bite him in the arse. It was probably too soon to make a definitive change. That wasn’t what was best for the TEAM.

I have read Lawrence was looking at transferring if the change didn’t happen, so who knows. It’s a dangerous game to play.

yeah just a tough situation.

i dont blame Dabo for making the decision, and I cant blame Bryant for wanting to play. Hard to tell a successful starter to suck it up and sit on the bench.

Lots of college coaches, most I'd say, understand the wisdom of playing upperclassmen ahead of freshmen. Freshmen, even the most talented ones, make more mistakes and that cancels out some of the talent advantage. And just as importantly, sitting established veterans in favor of hotshot newcomers runs the risk of creating bad team chemistry, and sometimes hurts depth when the bypassed players leave. That's the head coach's job, to weigh those factors correctly.

I keep hearing that, but Bryant has already saved Clemson once, and Lawrence has looked like crap today.

Then he's stupid because Bryant is senior.

Isn't Bryant a senior? Why would Lawrence transfer when Bryant would be leaving anyway. That doesn't make much sense....

That’s where I’m at. Dabo made the best decision for his team. Bryant did what he thinks is best for his career. Looks like they both were unlucky

Agreed. Just what someone on one of their boards posted. Could be no truth to it.

Makes no sense. You play a weak arse schedule and could have easily gotten by with Bryant. If you find yourself in the playoffs and need to make a change to Lawrence then so be it. Now you have zero QBs.

You have a very different tune in the Fields vs. Lawrence thread.

I think you’re right. Bryant is a senior and Lawrence has three years of eligibility. Keep Bryant as the starter and play Lawrence when you can.

You ignore arguments that don’t suit you, but they are entirely different circumstances. Bryant is a senior, Fromm is not. Nobody has suggested that Fields should be the starter, only that he should get meaningful playing time in meaningful games because he is one play away from being the starter and he’s physically better than Fromm. You also risk losing him if you don’t play him, a generational type player.

I realize you’ll ignore these arguments and immediately go to your fallback of “what if he screws up” since that is the only argument you have.

I also laugh at the fool who claimed Lawrence is better than Fields.

The reason he is leaving is he can redshirt and have another year of eligibility. If he plays for Clemson in another game, he will have appeared in 5 games and lose the ability to redshirt.
