Bennett today was shades of both.
In 2000 after Quincy was hurt/dq’ed/whatever we turned to short former walk on Cory Phillips for the last few games and he slung it all over the field.
In 2006 Stafford, a freshman, got his first start against Colorado. Offense struggled all day. Cox came in looked really sharp and saved the game.

I think Bennett reminds me of a poor man's joe cox.
Cox could make every throw. Clean pocket... and he could move the ball up and down the field and finish drives.
What he couldnt do was save a busted play. He more often than not made them worse.
Bennet doesnt have cox's arm strength. But give Bennett a clean pocket, he will make the read and the throw on target.
Collapse the pocket, and jokers are wild. Luckily, we have a ton of talent to help out with this offense.

No, I don't think so. I think there is a there there with Stetson.

That's what I was telling my friend - Bennett reminds me of Corey Phillips. Corey had some big games for us - he led us back against Kentucky when they had Jared Lorenzen. I think he started a few games in 2000 but David Greene eventually took over as the starter.

Corey finished out 2000 so Greene didn’t have to burn his redshirt. Greene's first action was as a redshirt freshman in the first game of 2001. In fact I think it may have been Phillips he outplayed that day to cement himself as starter. That 2001 team had the hobnail moment in Knox but lost some real head scratchers.

Glad we could get the W but we got some issues at QB. We better hope JT Daniels is what we think he is.
