It's a very good hire for them... it also shouldn't necessarily "worry" you.
How so? It's an arch-rival, a recruiting rival, we play them every year, it's an East team....I'm having a hard time seeing how Florida's resurgence wouldn't hurt us and by extension be cause for worry.

Do we think that Chip is going to come in and recruit well there?
I'd be stunned if he didn't. fricking flabbergasted. It's Florida FFS.

he's going to have to *win* in order to retain his shine, no different than any other coach.
But he can win and likely will win, that's the problem. Hell, McElwain came in and won this division twice.

Fear not. Lsu dubbed his team with one of the worst qbs in Lsu history.
The sec is not the pac 12

Historically, Chip Kelly struggled against teams that can win the LOS. Perhaps that changes with Chip Kelly 2.0, but on the surface, I'm not sure I buy it. We may not be where we *want* to be on the LOS, but we are improving there. By year 2 of Chip Kelly, we should be in good shape there.

He has actively stated that he hates recruiting. He's never recruited the southeast. And "It's Florida" has recruited over the past 5 years (including the 2018 class) the:
9th, 21st, 12th, 11th, and prospectively 9th ranked classes.
I anticipate that he'll bring in fine players, but I don't necessarily believe he's going to start recruiting top 5 classes immediately either barring some effing phenomenal position coach/coordinator hires (with strong ties to the southeast).

Will have to see... at present, I don't believe he's going to have quite the success that many do... though with the current state of the East and LSU hiring Coach O, I guess it will depend on a lot of things. A) Who does UT hire... B) Can we maintain our momentum on the recruiting trail... So long as we're hauling in top 3-5 classes routinely, I like our chances in that matchup more often than not.

Chip Kelly = Jim McElwain
They are both so called offensive gurus, they both have fat heads, they both portray false prideful vibes, ect. ect.

Kelly hasn't signed a contract yet. Gators may want him, but does he want the Gators? He's a staunch disciplinarian and doesn't put up with problem players or prima donnas. And problem players are the soup du jour in Gainesville.
Gators need a coach who will end the of-the-field issues but will Bullgators accept Kelly booting a 5 star? Again, at this point, Kelly's still just a candidate.

Florida has a lot of talent, but they've got a lot of in-state competition for it these days: UF, FSU, Miami, USF, UCF, FIU, FAU.

The more I hear about how the OBC is still meddling in things over there the less I fear whoever they may hire.
