That non review could have been the difference between a historic 3 peat and being relegated to the Orange Bowl against a shitty Louisville team that nobody wants to watch.

I agree. It was terrible, if only because plays like that are consistently reviewed. But, we gotta play better/tougher to take away the impact shite like that has. Period. I think Kirby would agree.

Definitely chin up.

Only thing more fun than getting it is GETTING IT BACK.

Not really sure. If BAMA gets left out, it will change a lot of the bowl landscape

The b op was are inconsequential anymore. Let’s hope they do. Our players would opt out for a meaningless bowl anyway

Bleacher Report projects UGA vs Penn State in the Cotton Bowl.

Is it possible to still finish #1 in AP poll after bowls and claim a 3rd title?

More ridiculous titles have been claimed in the past by other teams....

Not with the AP, I don't think.

I'm wrong. I think the AP can do what they want.

FSU might claim one should they beat us in the Orange.

Just thinking about this seasons defense and trying to be objective as possible.

On a scale of:
Poor / Average /Good /Very Good

DL- I feel they were in between average and good. Probably top 25% in D1. Just didn’t have a dominant player to hold it down and disrupt consistently.

Lbs- I feel they were also in between average and good. A little weaker DL than the last 2 years hurt this group IMO. Opposing teams OLines were getting some extra push and disrupting our LB pursuit angles a lot. Plus just being younger and less experienced played a role. Out of position a good bit. Talent wise I think they were good enough to be dominant had they had a JD or JC type linchpin on the line.

DB- very good rating and I believe the group was so strong that it covered up a lot of the issues going on in the front 7. We had some really great stretches of defense as a result of tremendous coverage efforts and open field tackling on the edges and after short to medium length receptions. This group carried the defense so much that they brought the entire defense unit up to being one of the top units in the country.

Considering everything together, I feel the defense was good enough to carry us through to a 3rd title. I did have flashbacks of the 21 SECCG and didn’t like the scheme against Bama. It was very similar to 21 where we just tried to contain Young with few blitzes and a spy in the middle. I feel like you make a guy like Milroe beat you by facing some havoc in his face and if he does tip the hat. We weren’t real aggressive. In fact, pretty vanilla and still almost won. It’s really a testament to how good our DB was this year that they were able to do what they did Saturday with the scheme we employed. I can stomach a loss better knowing we took an aggressive stand and the guy was good enough for the occasion. Might have caused some errant throws resulting in an Int or a fumble in the backfield. Just seemed we played real conservative on both sides of the ball most of the night.

Christmas came early! Stop criticizing people that criticize the refs. Post porn instead. Also...

Almost too vanilla on both sides of the ball. Almost as if on purpose

I think the name Dick Dangler deserves a discussion thread instead.

I'd normally agree with you rules, but even in real time I was questioning why they wouldn't have reviewed that catch. I even thought that it WAS a catch, yet still wondered why they wouldn't. They fricked up there, but champions play to make shite like that not matter and, ultimately, we didn't play well enough to be champions.

Agree all the way.
I was surprised too (as were the CBS folks), but that kind of crap is unfortunately part of the game. The missed FG (possibly due to the false start) and the turnover due to the missed hand-off cost us the game.

Yes. Those were things that we could control, yet we did not. I get bored with all the hand wringing over the refs and injuries...everyone gets bad calls, missed calls, banged up, etc. everyone.

You control what you can control, and you win at that. Or, in a game where the margins between the staffs and talent or so thin, you do not and you lose.

We lost. Period. Now, I'm ready to get it on with FSU, put them in their place, see what signing day looks like, and how we look in spring.
