Have the OL line up offsides to obscure the foootball from the linesman, and then the center moves the ball forward. Voila, first down before the ball is even snapped.

Probably deserved an in sportsmanlike penalty for that one.

Damn...that's some dirty pool.
Wonder if Peter did the same during his playing days?

Looks like line judge was blowing his whistle and about to call it. You can see it barely at the very end. I didn't watch the game, so i missed it. Slick play, though.

They showed another angle where it was clear, he picked it up and moved it a yard.

The funny part is that Vol fans think Kirby out recruits Pruitt because of excessive cheating. Pruitt practices how to cheat, and then runs it in front of the cameras and millions, I mean thousands, of viewers.

That was a team effort as they all stood a yard forward to hide it. It was coached.

It’s called cheating, and Tenner got busted for it. Almost cost them the game.

Go right ahead. I don't feel like debating with idiots who say that happens all the time.

A penalty was called on that play. You can see the ref blowing the whistle and running towards the center.

Yes, I saw that. I was not insinuating that they did not try that.

Football is a strange game. WRs know they drop a pass but hold it up to try to get a completion call. That is cheating. OLinemen hook their hands under a DLinemens shoulderpads to hang on to them without being seen by a referee. That is cheating. A WR will go down to the legs of a DB and hook their legs with their arms to hold on to them. That is cheating.
Football is a game in which cheating is taught by coaches, and encouraged....but we get upset when the other team does it.
I mean...no offense, but almost every team tries to skirt around the rules and the intent of the rules. If a DB is beaten do we want to follow the rules and let the WR go for a TD, or do we want them to grab the WR to prevent a catch and certain TD?

Well, it does, but not nearly to the degree that they tried. That was pretty egregious.

You can cheat it forward a bit as the ball is laying flat when you grab it to put it on an angle . You are not allowed to advance the ball into the neutral zone as a center, but it happens a lot. Some do it intentionally and some I think just do it naturally to get their right stance. The refs typically don’t mess with you unless you are being obvious or one of the opposing coaches bitches at the refs. The rest of the line lines up based on the feet of the Center, so where he sets, they go. The HL and the LJ are supposed to be watching for that kind of stuff. They are typically set on the ball while the players are in the huddle, so if the Center moves it a good bit, they should be able to see it. With that said, it hard for them to see it move a few inches and frankly they would not call it typically... they obviously saw UT trying to bite off more than the margin of error allows.
I'm sure that was a set play, but the down side means a stopped clock. In that case, I don’t like the risk/reward there. Even if they don’t get it, the clock burns down to like 20 something seconds. Instead, they punt it with just over a minute.
