my understanding that OL is one of those positions where you should be pleasantly surprised to see ANYONE get PT before their 3rd year.

Actually Clemson,OSU and Bama started true Freshman on the oline last year and it used to be somewhat like you described except for the mandatory redshirting.

Nebraska used to famous for having loads of redshirt O lineman but they had some big time recruiting advantages along
with their " sports science" advantages...ahem

No but we had a true freshman, rfreshman and a converted D lineman starting who BTW didn't play much oline in HS as far as I know.
A Thomas, is a special talent. I know he was a 4*, but if you watched his tape, you could see he was special. I was calling it all year before he got here in the fall that he would get more playing time than I Wilson.

Kindley is a guard, yes and Ben is a tackle at his size. And the Dlineman you mentioned is a redshirt Jr, who was highly rated himself. Plus next year A Thomas will move over to LT and a spot will be opened. Plus coming out Cleveland was said to be very raw. Plus once he is a rsJR and he isnt' getting playing time, then you can start questioning him. Until then, just give him and the other players time.

rsJr?By that time he'll have been in the program 3 and 1/2 years and have 4 spring practices under his belt.

Lots of time for a 4 star lineman to make a contribution even if he is "learning the posistion"

Heck, Im pulling for the kid and hope he has success

I want him to succeed as well but by the time he is a Jr, with the way we are recruiting Olineman, and he isn't get major playing time, then he may never will. This is just assuming the younger guys take the starting role and not relinquishing it. Not saying this will happen and I think he still has a good shot at starting by the time he leaves here.

Also how nasty of a goal line defense would it be to put Cleveland and I Wilson at the NT spot, then build the line around them two. All you need them two to do is just push forward, and I don't think they can run up the middle on us.

Dooley used to do that back in the 70's.Had a guy named Sky Hertwig who was about 6"7 and Mike Wilson who were both O linemen that played goal line defense

Gaillard was actually a 5 star recruit and took him a couple years to make move to OL and become a starter.
