Why am I cautiously (extremely) optimistic about this group? Could they be better than last year? From a pass rushing standpoint, it’s unreal. I think UGA is there if you know what I mean

No, our defense will not be better. We will need to score over 28 a game to win next season. Stetson ain’t that guy

He just led a collective team to 33 points and a natty. He scored more than that in every appearance in 21. He has a very talented O-Line (dominant and experienced). WR’s and TE’s are elite. D-Line is elite. LB’s will be TBD. Secondary returns experience in key areas. This team will be very good. Don’t fool yourself.

I’m thinking an optimistic 10-3 next year however if any of the new guys come in and can match Carter on the inside and our new linebackers are as good as their recruiting profile says they should be then we should still be damn good. The toughest loss will be Burton. Safety play will hopefully improve and our DB haul should prove handy next season.

Have you seen the schedule? I'll be disappoint if we go worse than 11-1. We have a chance for 12-0 again. Seriously.

Florida rebuilding.
Auburn rebuilding.
Tennessee not there yet.
Oregon lost a lot.

Those are the tough games.

Maybe I am missing something?

No way defense is better but they will still be good. Offense should put up points with Monken and Stet having a third year in the offense. May not be blowing people out as much so if things go well Stet could be looking at breaking some passing records.

O line will be nasty and our most productive returning WR are all great route runners. Schedule sets up favorably as well. Just got to avoid injuries taking out a position group again.

WR’s: Honky, Mitchell, Marcus, Smith, Jackson, (pretty good) Gilbert???

TE: Bowers… Delp… Maybe Big O?

O-Line… Enough Said

LB’s… will probably struggle

Back End… both Smith’s are back and hero Ringo… ????? Missing something?

D-Line… Carter, Stackhouse, Williams, Smith, and more?

Again… gonna be a really good team

Name checks out.

Pretty sure there was only one game with Stetson where over 28 wasn’t scored last season.

Dean, Walker, and Tindall are going to be impossible production to replace next season.

Combine that with losing Wyatt, Walker, and Davis, and at the very least we will have considerable falloff in run defense.

Carter, Nolan, and Beal, combined with a really good secondary means we will probably actually have a better pass rush and maybe even pass coverage. But that won’t be enough to compensate completely for the falloff in run defense.

We’ll still have a really good scoring defense, but nothing close to the 10.2 pt average we just had. I suspect we average around 16-17 pts allowed, which will still be top-10.

But our offense is still going to average 38.6/game again, or very likely better. There’s zero reason to think the offense doesn’t actually improve.

The falloff losing Burton, Pickens, Cook, and White is going to be absolutely nil.

In fact, we might just blow our offensive production away simply because we likely won’t be playing 3rd stringers every 4th quarter since our defense will likely allow some closer games.

That all said, the schedule is so favorable I don’t see how we still don’t go 12-0 and are playing Bama or A&M in the SECCG, and making it again into the CFP.

That’s my point… watch that D-Line eat… There’s sooo many other players that have played. I do believe Smart and UGA have set themselves up for a 1-3 year dominate run. May not result in Natty’s but by year 3 it most definitely will.

Who is Williams? And you left out Beal. These buys played a lot of football last season
Zion Logue - 11 Total tackles and 1 sack
Tymon Mitchell -6 Total tackles
Tramel Walthour - 14 Total tackles
Warren Brinson - 8 Total tackles and 1 sack
Tyrion Ingram Dawkin - 2 Total tackles
Jonathan Jefferson - 3 Total tackles
Bear will get some playing time also. Coach Scott will have all those guys playing at a high level.

It sure is nice to have some dudes replacing Legends.
4* Rian Davis
4* Trezmen Marshall
5* Xavian Sorey
5* Smael Mondon
4* Jamon Dumas-Johnson
4* Chaz Chambliss
Freshman Jalon Walker will be hard to keep off the field. Both he and Malaki Starks. I think the defense will still be one of the best in the country. Defense scoring may go from 10.2 points per game to 15.0 points per game.

Dumas will be a stud at Safety. And, you have to look at the new studs coming in on defense that will be immediate impact players. The OL will be better and UGA will have a running game like we all saw with Chubb and Michel. Repeat National Champions. Go Dawgs!!!

Isn't he a LB? Are you talking about Jamon Dumas-Johnson?

You are correct. I was confusing him with another name. Dumas should be our starting MLB.
