Good in year 1 with former coach's players. One of the worst teams in SEC hsitory in year 2 going 0-18. Good in year 3.
based on the above do we know if those guys are actually better at building/sustaining a program opposed to just being a flash in the pan? White has steadily continued to build and improve us and it didn't take being atrocious to do it thankfully.

Bama, UT, Florida are elite teams for sure. Better talent overall, but should they be beating us by an average of 20+ points?
I think that is a tad misleading. Bama is exponentially better than us and it was a single digit game midway in the 2nd half. Game was on the road.
We led UT at half and were down 5 with 16 minutes left before rading. Also on the road. florida was just a crap game from the get go. Also on the road. Questions like this are like an arkansas or MSU fan in football sayin "yeah UGA is obviously better than us but ar ethey THAT much better than us?"
Yes. Those teams are vastly superior to us in every way. Losing by 20 on the road to them is not shocking. Hell look at the UF/UT series this yera between two elite teams. UT lost by 30 on the road to uf. UF lost by 20 on the road in knoxville. It happens.

Do we know if any of those coaches, including White can sustain success? No. What do those coaches have that we dont? A tourney appearance.
Would you agree White is the least successful coach of the group, so far? I guarantee you we have lapped them all in NIL and resource allotment to the program since they were hired. Also add in Miss. State coach to that class of new coaches. His been to the tourney his first two years and trending for a third.
And let's address the "steady improvement" notion.
Year 1 - 16-16 (6-12 in conference)
Year 2 - finish 17-16 (6-12)...by pure luck we are invited to NIT and make a run to finish at 20-16. Literally any other year and we don't qualify for the NIT auto bid. I say that is fools gold improvement at best.

We are not going to be able to outspend most SEC teams in hoops, so we need to be a program we can sell. Right now we are on the edge of being able to be that program. Then it comes down to the right combo of Jimmies and Joes…

you are correct. I do think that as a program you have the potential to ultimatley do bigger things if you have that solid foundation that we're building, opposed to catching fire one year and going 0-18 the next. Just speculation though.

I suppose if forced I would concede since we mostly measure CBB success on tourneys. But I think that's not telling the whole tale as White has definitely been the most consistnet and hasn' had the putrid seasons those others have.

For starters he inherited a team coming off a 6 win season that was 1-17 in the league. To win 10 more games out of the gates is pretty remarkable. Won 6 regular season league games and zero games after our final regularly scheduled game. Year two won 20 games. 6 regular season league games then another in the SECT. Upset two very good basketball teams on the road to make the NIT semis.
I think it's a bit hypocritical to call him a failure, compared to his peers at least, for not making the postseason (NCAAT) then turn around and casually dismiss the success he has had in a different postseason. Does postseason stuff matter or does it not?

we can outspend at least the bottom half, all but 3 who are ahead of us.

Yeah, unless we want to start relying on road wins over AU or aTm this is pretty much a must have.

Of course we start out shooting well, but defense letting up a lot on the perimeter. Ugh. 15-15 right now

All 21 points for LSU off the 3 ball. 22-21 Dawgs. Hope CMW draws up some perimeter defense on this timeout…we play scrappy underneath so not sure why we are letting them run wild up top. This isn’t Tennessee or Auburn we are playing

Guess not as LSU hits another
25-24 Dawgs
Posted on 2/5/25 at 8:31 pm to K9
27-27 and LSU has all points on 9 3 pointers
Okay, now seriously talk about the defense on THIS timeout

LSU is 322nd in the nation in 3 point % too….wtf
And we miss both free throws

Perimeter defense looks much tighter after that time out, as they’ve missed 4 straight…although we haven’t capitalized
LSU has missed their last 6 shots and we only took 3 points 30-27 ~4m left in 1H
