To be fair, when you recruit the way Kirby recruits, are the flagship school of one of the three most talent rich states in the country, and have unlimited resources to accomplish the mission, yes, it is national championship or bust.
That’s the standard Kirby will be held to every season going forward, and frankly I doubt he would have it any other way.

Great Bowl game, and with a win a legitimate shot at finishing the season in the top 4 and possibly, top 2, depending on how Bama plays the next two games. Get used to crushing disappointment on an annual basis, then. Even the very best programs don't win one every year.

Georgia football has been a crushing disappointment every year of my life so far (I wasn’t born for 1980). Nothing new.
