Well? I was born in a minor league dugout in the middle of a hail storm. Mom said lightening lit my arse up but I lived. I was born for baseball. Baseball was my daddy. I learned that real quick like. Was the player/coach for a HS State Championship team. Designed stadiums. Invented the double squeeze play. I KNOW my shite and I say you are wrong sir. So please stand down sir!

I wonder what the chances we go Wilcox Friday against Mercer then Locey Saturday and Hancock on Sunday, and have Elliot in case we drop a game.

I don’t see UGA winning a single game. A Sweep looks inevitable.

On paper, Florida State probably has a top 10-15 roster in college baseball. They have potential high picks across the roster in the next couple of drafts.
3B Drew Mendoza could have been a top pick out of high school before going to Florida State. Freshman All American, All ACC as a sophomore and junior. Should be a top two round selection in a few weeks.
Robby Martin might be a freshman all american this year. He's mostly been their DH.
JC Flowers is their Aaron Schunk. 12 home runs offensively and 11 saves with a 1.59 era.
The rest of their offense is hit or miss, kind of like ours. The bottom of their lineup is not good.
Pitching wise, Drew Parrish is their Friday starter. He got absolutely lit up two starts ago, so his stats dont look great, but he strikes out a ton of people. He will probably pitch against Florida Atlantic, so we might not see him.
CJ Van Eyk is the guy we will probably see if FSU wins on Friday night. He is a potential top 20 pick in 2020. Sits 92-93 that can reach around 95. Good 12-6 curve. Tons of Ks, but command is a problem. Potentially a lot of walks.
Bad pen besides Flowers. Get past the starters, and there can be a lot of runs to be had.
Defensively, they made 75 errors this year, compared to 42 for Georgia.
If their stars are on, they can beat anyone. If not, Georgia can blow them out.

Florida Atlantic
.299 team average. 4.80 ERA.
Runs per game
7.4 to 8.2 vs Q1
6.4 to 5.8 vs Q2
7.1 to 4.6 vs Q3
6.9 to 4.3 vs Q4
4-7 against teams in the tournament. 1-2 Miami, 0-3 Illinois, 2-2 Southern Miss, 1-0 Florida.
They gave up 76 runs in the three weekend series against Miami, Illinois, and Southern Miss.
7 guys have started at least 4 games this year. They've been looking for pitching all year and have not found it. Their three top pen arms are the best part of their pitching staff.
They have eight guys hitting over .300 in their lineup. The lineup is mostly veteran. Guys that have played multiple games in the tournament. Dont look past the fact that none are going to be big prospects. They can put up numbers.

Mercer
0-3 vs Florida State
-7 runs scored vs 26 given up
0-3 vs Indiana State
-14 runs scored vs 28 given up
0-2 vs Georgia Tech(midweek)
-9 runs scored vs 21 given up
They were only 7-7 vs Q2 teams, and got destroyed against Georgia Southern in two mid week games.
Tied for 3rd in the SoCon. 6-1 in the conference tournament, only 4-6 in their previous 10 games. Could be getting hot at the right time.
Kel Johnson is their top player. Freshman all american at Georgia Tech. Over 30 home runs in his first three seasons at Tech. Missed most of his senior year because of injury. 22 home runs with a .297 batting average as a graduate student this year at Mercer.
The rest of the offense is nothing special. Only .269 as a team.
Pitching, their top three starters arent good. Give up a ton of hits, and dont really strike anyone out.
Good closer and set up guy.

Florida State def Florida Atlantic 9-7
Georgia def Mercer 10-4
Georgia def Florida State 5-2
Mercer def Florida Atlantic 12-11
Florida State def Mercer 9-5
Georgia def Florida State 4-1
Edit:
Im also predicting Arizona State to beat LSU in the Baton Rouge regional. LSU's pitching is a little suspect at times, and the Sun Devils might have the best middle of the order in all of college baseball with Hunter Bishop a potential top 10 pick this year, and Spencer Torkelson who might be the only player to challenge Hancock for #1 overall next year.

FAU sounds like they could be a pain in the arse at the plate but fortunately we have excellent pitching and have faced much worse in conference.
Doesn’t look like there’s much in the way of pitching that we should be too worried about (like Duke last year) though there always seems to be that one guy for a team who decides to have an insane tournament out of seemingly nowhere

CJ Van Eyk could be that guy if we play him. He has the talent to shut down anyone. That's why he is in line to be a first round pick next year. He could go 7 or 8 strong and then they can bring in their closer and completely shut down everyone.
Florida State can be scary if they are on.

Gotta think Mike Martin represents the X factor for that team. Fortunately we have better pitching this year than last and our guys seem to swing a better bat at home. Need the top of our order to be on and the bottom half to continue to find some magic (Jernigan, Tate, Sully, and Shep have all done well lately).

Reading up on some of the opposing team takes, it’s interesting that the prevailing opinion is that we can’t hit and get by on pitching alone. Looking at FSU collectively, we are pretty on par with their batting and blow their pitching out of the water overall. Doesn’t seem there is a high opinion of the arms at Mercer or FAU either.

If anyone knows the guys who currently live in the greenhouse, help them find a bullhorn, some loud arse speakers, and keep them well hydrated this weekend. Kudzu Hill IS our homefield advantage; stadium can’t play walk up songs but King Kudzu certainly can and should.
If the opposing right fielders aren’t questioning their existence and begging their coaches every inning to call their moms and girlfriends to insure they’re ok and still love them, we have failed.

Think Wolf of Wall Street but with a lot more blow.

I think someone posted the wrong link for Finalists yesterday, looks like you’re right he didn’t make the final 4.
Still, point still stands about him being the best starter we’ve ever had.
Finalists are JJ Bleday (Vandy), Noah Song (Navy), Adley Rutschman (Oregon State), and Andrew Vaughn (Cal)
Vaughn won it last year
