Yeah that’s right I just remember WVU being also insanely good in 2007 and only allowed to let LSU slip into the BCS championship game because they couldn’t beat Pitt who was like 3-4 team their final game

They has 2 losses. They jumped from #7 to #2 in the final BCS poll largely in part because Herbstreit went on a crusade to get them in to that spot. He was announcing the WVU /Pitt game and he was already lobbying for LSU before that game lock hit 0:00. WVU was #2 going into that game. My theory was that his lobbying was a make up to Les Miles for reporting that he was leaving LSU to go to Michigan the morning of the LSU/UT SECCG. Herbstreit caught a lot of flack for that and he was doing everything he could to get out of Miles doghouse.
Bonus: Pat McAfee was the WVU kicker and missed a FG that game.
