He was healthy on for the first TD of the game. In my opinion, invest on our current roster. A couple of high profile olinemen would be nice for depth.

How do we know Georgia doesn't have a top 10 payroll, or is it just a fun narrative to roll with?
The fun narrative is rival fans speculating that Georgia's recruiting has dipped because Kirby can't outspend everyone now that paying players is legal. I've seen that from from fans of some of the dirtiest programs in college football, as if their programs weren't leading the pack in under the table money for decades. It's true that Georgia can't outspend everyone else, but we never did anyway. What's changed is that those erstwhile prolific cheaters can pay large sums to everyone now, apparently even big bucks to kids still in HS, without fear of getting slammed with penalties. When the incentives straight out of HS become life-changing, rivalling even some NFL rookie contracts, and agents/handlers/relatives are openly managing financial negotiations, money plays a larger role in the decision making process. The downside for the big spenders is that they end up with more mercenaries and that presents its own set of problems.
Plenty of numbers have been thrown around and the media consensus has been that Georgia is not one of the big spenders. Recruits have said they took a lower amount to sign with Georgia. I haven't seen any stories about Georgia recruits signing exorbitant deals, or about players getting (relatively) huge salaries. Recruiting service analysts have insinuated that Georgia's payroll is limited compared to the top tier of programs and that Georgia depends more on reputation and development to keep up. And, UGA has no obvious billionaire donors willing to blow massive sums on college football.
I think Georgia can afford to pay up for a few individuals they really want to keep, or for a player they really need from the transfer portal, but even then I don't believe they can outbid teams like Texas, TAMU, Miami, Michigan, USC, Ohio State for a player those teams really want. Even programs like Auburn, Tennessee, Alabama, Missouri, Ole Miss, FSU, stand a good chance of winning if money is the deciding factor, which is why we lose players like Damon Wilson, who was very likely to be a starter. Kirby has made a lot of hard choices about how to allocate money while keeping players from becoming disenchanted because their teammate is getting much bigger paychecks.

Georgia is blessed to have a super solid 4* qb that doesn’t want 5 million dollars. If you can get that heart and passion out of your qb who wants to play for your team, you can arrange the rest of the funds to beef up the team around him. Seems to be working

Like Roderick who we already have?
I really like Roderick, but I would be shocked if he doesn't portal out. With all of his injuries he is pretty much buried in the depth chart.
I am hoping Phillips sticks with us. I think he can develop into a really good back along the lines of James Cook.

I don’t know about that. He really looked off this year. Like a step slow.

For the life of me, I can only remember seeing him a few times. Very few.
I just looked it up and he only got 35 carries. Outside of cleanup time I only remember him getting a handful of touches. The vast majority were in cleanup time with the second string OLine. I just chalked it up to playing behind an inexperienced OLine, but maybe I'm wrong.

Murmurs are that Jadan Baugh could end up in Athens:

Idc about any portal interest until I see a legit source saying we’re serious with it. We legitimately vet and or chat with essentially every portal entry whether they’re likely to come here or not.

ON3 is as legit as they come. It's not like they're random posters working in a vacuum on speculation.

I know. But “Georgia is an early school to watch” screams “A source tells us Georgia contacted this kid”. That’s my point. They contact almost every breathing player in the portal. We gauge interest in lots of guys. Did last year too. I wouldn’t mind grabbing this kid at all for a decent price. But I’m not too concerned with “Early reports”.

On3 reporting that Cam Coleman is entering the portal. Wonder if we will be in the sweepstakes.

The word for sometime has been we're the leader. The problem is someone swooping in with more money, like Caleb Downs.

Kirby has shown that he doesn't mind allocating plenty of money for portal receivers. I've heard Georgia media members say that "Branch wasn't cheap" at least 5 times in the last few months.
There will be plenty of negative recruiting against us, however. A Georgia wide receiver has only finished in the top 10 in the SEC in yards per game one time since Kirby's been here. It's true that Branch had a lot of touches but he's a slot receiver.

Branch wasn’t cheap but he was largely untapped. Coleman is proven. And an X. They cost more than slots and same with Branch, he’ll be a junior next year so if he has a good year you’re paying a lot for a 1 year rental. Should be interesting.

^^^ I say bring it on. Stocton throws a good deep ball. Assuming we can keep our O-line together for the most part, Coleman might put us over the edge for preseason #1. A lot of Dawg fans don't care about being number 1, but I think it's one of the coolest stats. We were barely in the top 20 all-time before Kirby, and now we could be #6 by the time Kirby's time is over.

It’s 2027 class news, but I saw where DJ Jacobs committed to OSU yesterday.

OSU is going to get whoever they want. It’s not sustainable but don’t plan on getting many #1 in their position recruits

Puglisi is coming back.

The kid is a double legacy so I guess some had some hope he be a dawg
Edit : I thought I made the post about Jacobs in the recruiting thread … didn’t mean to put it here
