The days of stacking 5 stars on the OL ended when Pittman left unfortunately. It’s just a new day and age for everyone.

Dawgs never recruited a Nick Saban, Bama level Olinemen class. This is the Dawgs composite Oline recruiting history. Still Championship level.
2016 - One 5*
2017 - One 5*, Three 4*
2018 - Two 5*, Two 4* (well, maybe this one class)
2019 - One 5*, Two 4*
2020 - One 5*, Three 4*
2021 - One 5*, Two 4*
2022 - Three 4*
2023 - One 5*, Two 4* (Monroe Freeling was a ON3 Composite 5*)
2024 - Five 4*, (hell of an Oline class)
2025 - One 5*, Two 4*
2026 - Two 4*, (only a couple of teams is doing ok this year)
This is the composite only. About 70 percent of the Dawgs olinemen signed has a 4* rating by at least one recruiting service.

In fairness, they are all good classes. This one has a way to go, but still not bad.
OLine is one of the hardest positions to evaluate, imo. It's hard to tell if a kid was dominating in HS because he was just bigger or stronger, or because he has a lot of fight in him. But, all in all...just going by the star rankings, we have been doing well along the OLine, wouldn't you say?
As for us having a drop off? I would rather have a bunch of high 4* players than a few 5* players and several lower 4* players. Just my preference, but it is what it is. I'm willing to wait and see how these things shake out before doubtring this class. We are over 300 (301.3) right now and expect to get a couple more players.

The problem has always been depth. That Freeling was the best option with a torn labrum since the first Texas game says all you need to know.

Look at the depth chart now.

On paper that looks good, but there's a wild variation between players within the same star category. Let's go back to 2024 and prior since the last class hasn't done anything yet.
Michael Uini was a 4* but rated at a top 100 national player. Marcus Harrison was a 4* as well but not rated in the top 350.
2023 Freeling was a 4* top 40 national player (not sure where you got 5* from but the copmosite doesn't refelct that) and has performed well. Kelton Smith was a 4* but not in the top 200
2022 E.Greene was a 4* top 50 player and played inconsistent but fairly well. Jacob Hood was a 4* and not in the top 400.
Point is...you can't just look at a star number and say "OL recruiting is fine!" We recruit a bunhc of OL under CSS that simply won't ever pan out and aren't difference makers.

Somebody with real football knowledge comment on whether you think that’s an elite OL corps. You forget about some of those names once recruiting is done and they’ve signed and enrolled. Many of those listed were a big deal when they committed. What’s the opinion now?

I would say this for the IOL. Dawgs have put multiple 3* guards in the league. Normally you don't miss with a 5* OT

On paper, yes.

I’m lazy, what did Bama’s classes look like during the same time frame?

Yes. At least on paper

There were 2 years in a row when we had 5 different 247 5 star offensive linemen, so does that mean that Saban had 7 or 8 of them?
...Also, you seem like you're trying to imply that our O line recruiting from Kirby's first 5 cycles and last 5 cycles are comparable. This year we'll have zero 247 composite 5 star offensive lineman on the roster, and in 2019 and 2020 we had five. Also, how could a true freshman basketball player who hadn't played football since middle school have been running with our second team at tackle last season?
It's all subjective and this isn't science, but we'll just have to agree to disagree if you think our offensive line recruiting hasn't fallen way off.

The other site is reporting that Valdin Sone may be making a commitment announcement today. BIG target ranked 49th in country and many expect to be ranked better when it is all finished.

That makes up for losing James Johnson. Nice pick up!
