Per DawgNation Hero Kanu commits to TX. This is starting to feel like the Richt days when we got punked on reg in recruiting and having to settle for plan B, C, D.

You sure about that? 26 is a little shaky but 25 still isn’t over yet. We’re ranked #2 with the number one edge rusher and d lineman.

26 is partially shaky because in state in 26 is garbage. But no. Richt peaked at like the 4 class once but usually we were 9-12 range.

This just in. Stacy Searels signs 5* for the 2025 recruiting class.
The final 247Sports recruiting ranking is finalized for the 2025 class, and verdict is in: Juan Gaston's arrow is, officially, pointing up.
The 6-foot-8, 388-pound offensive lineman — when he measured in at the Under Armour All-American Game, at least — was Georgia's most highly-recruited offensive lineman in the 2025 class. With his final rankings rise, it's easy to see why.
In the final release, Gaston moved up 90 spots to No. 18 overall. That slot was high enough to earn Gaston 5-star status.

Sounds good for now, but hadn’t taken his official visit yet and we have a year for him to flip
Recruiting and news like this ain’t the same as 10-15 years ago. Dude got an offer, and will use and abuse it for the next 10.5 months til early signing period. Not hating, just being real

Kirby's one of the best recruiters in the business, but he's being outbid. And despite assertions by some internet folks, he's not being outbid because he refuses to bid more. He's being outbid because he doesn't have enough NIL money to build a roster of top paid recruits. The program NIL numbers/rankings that have been thrown around are BS; there are multiple programs that can double UGA's offer for any given player because they have a lot more money.
But, Kirby's still the best coach in college football so he'll coach up the ones we have and be very competitive. UGA fans who can't tolerate that approach should consider donating a lot more money, or maybe find a team with super wealthy donors whose coattails they can ride.

We have a budget. We can’t grab every star who wants $2M. Kirby’s schtick is you will play for Championships and be prepared for the NFL. The only issue currently is some players are now staying in College longer because they can make more $$. Also, guys like Beck renegotiate after each season for more $$$. Beck was hurt and able to double his take vs UGA. Would you got to Miami for $2+ M vs UGA? Especially after this season ? Every good QB, receiver, Tackle and Edge rusher can almost assuredly get a pay increase by going to the portal. Imagine trying to manage realistically 50 players a year with this game. Also, every time you give jonny more $$…Jimmy who plays the same position and thinks he is better or as good gets upset with coaches and program for not valuing him.
Only glimmer of hope is this appears to be headed to some more regulation in the next 2 years.

That's the issue with playing the highest bid game. Even if you win the bidding contest for Jonny, it may hurt the team if you can't afford to immediately re-value a bunch of those Jimmy's. And it's not even necessarily limited to guys playing the same position. If you pay a left tackle two million bucks a year, every player on the team potentially starts recalculating how much they're worth. It doesn't matter if their assessment is flawed; all that matters is they think they're worth more and they're not happy.
Right now, the sums for top players are going up every year and that filters down through the rest of the rosters. Some teams, like Texas, can play that game for a while longer.
