Well Wagner and Mercer trying to pitch this into an interesting game again

15-8 now, bases loaded and no outs for GS

2 run single makes it 15-10 with 2 on and no outs

Get out of the inning after letting up 4

15-11 Dawgs

I really hope we don't score 15+ against Georgia Southern and lose.

Rhadans closes out the last 2 innings not letting up a run. He’s been solid this year in his appearances

Pitching was good for few, but far from good overall. Same thing all season

Bats hitting so well. Was good to se contribution from just about everyone tonight

Dawgs take a 4-0 lead in the 2nd on HRs from Condon and Justin Thomas

So, we need to talk about Charlie Condon.

This redshirt freshman is batting .500+ with 6 HR and 29 RBI in 13 games.

Dawgs lead 7-0 in the 4th in large part because Condon has hit 2 of those HRs in this game

Hit like crap last night, but still has the season stats. I’m hoping it all continues through the gauntlet we have coming in SEC play.
We have beaten 6 Q1 and Q2 opponents, but we are about to face a monster schedule of pitching and hitting like we haven’t seen yet.

Dawgs win 9-4

Another top Q2 win. Crazy. Puts us 3rd in the SEC right now with Q1/Q2 wins. It’s early for that, but still good to see. shite is about to get real, very fast. Glad we have USC at home to start it all, but I believe we have 8 series vs top 25 teams as of now, including number 1, 3,4,6,7, 8, 20 and 25

Sounds like our team has a lot of batters this years. Could be dangerous…

Looking ahead, feeling decent about where we are given the depth of the lineup and that it seems like Woods and Sully have found themselves on the mound. We aren’t going to win every series we play but we should be competitive with that alone. Problem now is we don’t have a solidified bullpen rotation at the moment and while Colton Smith looked really good last night and Hoskins and Finley have shown some really good stuff, idk that we can afford to rely on true freshmen as our Sunday and Midweek starters all year. Really need Goldstein and Crisp to unfrick themselves in the next few weeks.

Definitely like where Woods and Sully are at right now. I feel like the transfer, Rhadans, has pitched really well and could be our closer. The midweek/Sun does look horrendous right now though. I was really hoping Crisp would come around but looks like that didn’t happen. Hopefully we stay healthy and someone emerges for relief and Sunday starter

Also with the bats, they have been doing well, but I don’t think we’ve seen pitching quite like we will over the next 2 months….
hopefully everyone has some confidence and we build on that this weekend against Charleston Southern, before we play the #1 RPI team, Wofford, midweek then USC at home to open SEC play

Thing about this lineup right now is that they all make each other better. Typically we hve 2 really good bats and 7 fine or decent guys around them.

This year Tate, Harber, Condon, and Collins are all scary to opposing pitchers with Wagner, Anderson, and LaPlante all experienced and capable of working counts and making XBH. Only guys jury seems to still be out on are Murillo, Gonzo, and David as each have had some big hits but maybe not at the level of the other 7

Agree. Really ahead of my expectations going into the season.

I really hope we stay healthy and this success continues. Would be really fun

From Dasher:

“ Some UGA baseball injury news per Scott Stricklin:
Corey Collins is dealing with a tweaked hamstring.
Parks Harber is dealing with a hand injury.
Both are questionable for this weekend.
DA Allen will have a procedure to repair a hamate bone. He will miss a few weeks.”

Charleston Southern is 5-8 this year with sweeps by Florida and Tennessee. Should be able to beat them without Collins and Harber, rather they get healthy for the following weekend

SEC baseball Stats ytd

Some interesting stats. Figured we be slightly higher in batting avg, especially with 2 of the top 3 in the league. Not surprised by the pitching stats.

Puts into perspective what these boys are going to be going up against in a week
