It’s just a projection but, yeah, that’s where D1 has us. Absolutely awesome regional from a baseball perspective but I think we would get our bell rung against those lineups. Lot to lose against 2 of those squads from a fan perspective, nevermind that it’s all moot if we would then have to go to Knoxville for a Super

I hear you. But if they’re spreading out the scholarships couldn’t Hope pay for most of it and the rest be supplemented by athletics? I’m just struggling to see why after so long our recruiting in baseball is subpar for the SEC. Thanks for all of the answers.

In theory but you’re talking 11.7 baseball schollies for 30+ guys. Your top end recruits are probably commanding full schollies to get them to bypass the draft and it’s possible Strick may be playing for more developmental guys with good grades and high upside who are willing to take a partial. Especially in the age of the portal, easier to attract a guy like Crisp and Acton from UF when you have a full spot to offer them and a full scholly can be a tool to retain a guy who may be thinking draft after soph year if eligible

But truly idk what Strick’s philosophy is or if he’s just not a great recruiter the way Vitello, Bianco, Bohannon, etc have proven to be

It’s been years but I thought he was brought in to tap the East Cobb pipeline. Is he not doing that?

He’s brought in a few guys from East Cobb but he has spread it out across the state a lot more (Warner Robins, Gwinnett, Chickamauga, Loganville) presumably because most out of state competition floods East Cobb and Winder when we are more likely to land guys from outside those footprints as the in state school

Off the top of my head:
Wilcox, Rogers, Bradley were all from Northwest GA

Locey and Woods from Warner Robins

CJ Smith was from Royston

Hancock, McGovern, Talley we’re all South GA

Schunk, the Sullivans, and Harber from Atlanta private schools

Kristofak, Gonzo, and Buddy Floyd were East Cobb

Anderson is from Lagrange

Cannon and Dwight Allen are from North Fulton, Collins from Gwinnett

Tate bros are Oconee

No renderings yet but Stricklin announced the following expansions for Foley:

- expanded capacity to 5k (currently at 2,700; says he wants the stadium to have enough to be loud but not so big that it can’t sell out easily)
- return of Kudzu Hill as designated student seating (presumably going to redesign the hill area and reincorporate the houses into the general aesthetic)
- baseball-specific weight room in Foley (currently use the Olympic weight room in the Stegeman annex)
- baseball-specific nutrition center
- coaches offices moving to Foley from Stegeman (this is embarrassing as hell)
- indoor pitching lab (we currently use a tent, the only SEC program without a biometric facility for pitching)
- new and expanded batting cages (easily the worst batting cages in the SEC currently)

Also, let me just say frick Greg McGarity; this shite should’ve already been done 5 years ago and it’s embarrassing as hell we are only now going to behave like an SEC program under a competent AD

We have never won the tournament, since it started in 1977 or whatever, no.

I think we won a couple back when it use to just be a 3 game series of the top 2 teams, but never the tournament

Make it ten years ago and I'm with you.

Never won the tournament but have a few regular season titles. Like I’m basketball, tournament title is kind of a joke as most top teams will sandbag to conserve their arms

it sounds awful but I'm kinda hoping we lose today, is that bad? I've thougth about it every which way I can and it just doesn't seem like winning today then having to play at least 2 more games is worth it to us considering the overall health of this team. If we want to have any chance at success in a regional we need to be as healthy as possible especially pitching wise so throwing 3+ extra games seems counterproductive.

It’s not a bad way to look at it. We are safely in the tournament and we aren’t hosting so there’s little for us to gain overall from playing well in Hoover EXCEPT to just get the team feeling good about itself again. I’m concerned about the headspace of this team with it’s supposed senior leadership; back to back weekends Stricklin has had to challenge their manhood to get them to respond and avoid a sweep.

Yea, I’m hoping we put together a little streak in Hoover, just to give these kids some confidence. Losing 4 straight series, then going 1 and done in Hoover would not be ideal for confidence….although, the health aspect does make some sense
