No other way to frame it: Stricklin has let this squad completely shite itself down the stretch of the season.

I don’t know if Brooks is in a position to do so after making changes in 3+ other sports but a change in leadership is due. Already a squad that underperformed but this weekend is up there with the most embarrassing in the past 20 years for the program.

Can we fire this motherfricker, yet?

Edit: I see that’s been addressed, but if a change is needed, it’s needed. Stricklin has already been given too much time.

Dawgs fight back and walk it off in the 9th.

Maybe a spark going into hoover? #glasshalffull

Great comeback win, to finish .500 in the SEC. Sucks to lose our 4th straight series, and at home, to a team not playing in Hoover….

Cole Tate is just hot as shite right now, but he can’t carry a game.

6 or 7 seed in Hoover and likely a middle of the pack 2 seed in regionals.

Very disappointing finish to say the least. We had a great team and looked strong considering the daunting schedule, but we lose a lot going into next year too

TD24 - guessing a change has to be made unless we sneak into Supers. What’s really coming back next year?

Pearson, Collins, Spikes, Harbor, Crisp (pending MLB), Gonzo, Woods, Polk, Condon, Dejong? Not sure Gowen will get drafted, but he might get a COVID year?

We lose the leadership and a ton of depth I think

A rational thinker would assume so

Why does this matter? We know what we've got at this point. Lucking into supers to get our arse beat is irrelevant.

We’re going to be worse next season; losing a ton in the way of seniority and starters. Would expect a lot of young guys to play.

Which makes this a good rip off the band aid moment IMO.

Know what’s crazy?

2022 Standings - SEC - East
Tennessee 25-5, 49-7
Georgia 15-15, 35-20
Florida 15-15, 35-20
Vanderbilt 14-16, 35-19
South Carolina 13-17, 27-27
Kentucky 12-18, 30-24
Missouri 10-20, 28-23

We own the outright #2 spot in the East because Vandy lost and we own the tie breaker over Florida. We lost the last 4 series of the year and finished second in the damn division.

Could make the change and then release the plans for Foley upgrades to add some juice.

Possible. Spring Athletic Board meeting is soon so if it’s radio silence on that front during/after the meeting then there may be something up

Wagner on the mound vs Bama on Tuesday. We took the 6 seed via tiebreaker.

Tuesday is a single elimination game btw…double elimination starts Wednesday

Wagner will have to pitch a helluva game coming back from injury and the bats will have to pop for us to win. Because Sully spit the bit yesterday, we already threw Woods and Gowen more than we wanted to. Coupled with Bama needing this game more than us, I’m not optimistic but Hoover is a strange venue. If we manage a win, we play Arkansas

What kind of recruiting class are we bringing in next year?

Perfect Game has us as the #35 ranked class, a smaller group of 11 with 0 Top 100 players.

By comparison, Kentucky is sitting at #24 with an 11 man class, 3 Top 100 players, and a considerably better player average

The rest of the SEC/Rivals shake out as follows for 2022:
1. LSU
2. Vandy
4. Ole Miss
5. Arkansas
7. Auburn
8. Miss St
9. Tech
11. Bama
13. Clemson
16. A&M
19. Florida
20. Carolina
23. Tennessee
24. Kentucky

34. Georgia St
34. Georgia

55. Mizzou
57. Kennesaw St

71. Georgia Southern

9 of the 18 other teams listed here have a higher player average than we do.

In 2021, we were #30 with a lower player average than we have this year and 12 total commits. In 2020, we were #11 and in 2019 we were #12. We have only 1 Top 100 commit since

The good news is we have the #9 class for 2023 with 13 commits including 2 Top 100 guys. But it’s not going to help us for next season

You can’t look at Baseball recruiting classes like you look at Football because 1. Those top classes are likely going to lose 2-4 guys apiece to the draft and 2. Different teams have different scholarship situations.

Still, it’s a bad look whenever you’re second to last in the league and behind virtually the entire league and most all of your annual rivals

Can we not use the Hope Scholarship to our advantage? Full rides for academics?

I mean we can and do but HOPE is not longer a full ride like it was (have to get Zell for that which is a higher benchmark) and keeping it isn’t easy, either. Vandy is the only school that can claim academic scholarships and not disclose how legit those are by virtue of being private. And LSU, Oregon St, etc are all going to attract really good players willing to pay their own way or accept a partial scholarship because they’re premier programs with coaches who develop guys
