Cannon was perfect. Literally. 5 inning no hitter with 6K and no walks, would have gone at least 8 if not on a pitch count. Have to be excited for what he give this team down the stretch.

Offense was almost identical to last night with 8 hits and a single inning with a big 2 out XBH to clear the bases (and ultimately net the win) but nothing else. Can’t help but be concerned at the lack of clutch hitting even though we are manufacturing wins and averages are still doing pretty well.

Gowen did Gowen things in the 9th, Wagner and Marsh were shaky in places but did enough.

All in all, we won another SEC road series over a likely tourney team with a legit chance at a sweep tomorrow, solidifying our spot as #3 in conference behind Tennessee and Arkansas.

It’s been worse.

By my estimation, we need 6 more wins to feel good about a hosting bid heading into Hoover. We have 16 more games

Thanks for recapping, had family stuff all day so I was out of pocket for most of the game.

From what I was able to listen to/watch, we actually had a pretty great weekend on the mound. Offense remains a weak/single machine while suffering in slugging and the runs/RBI department. We are a scary squad on paper but in practice, still a lot left to be a desired.

Hopefully we can right the ship midweek with Cannon back on the weekend, need a win over a good State team. LSU is getting hot again but I think we can take at least one game in BR for a 2-2 week. Anything more than that is absolute gravy.

D1Baseball has us holding steady at 14. Notable is that 2 teams we have played and beaten earlier, Southern and Wofford, have both entered the top 25 rankings

That basically assumes we get swept against LSU, Tennessee, and Vandy and only take 2 against Mizzou.

With a healthy Cannon on the mound and Cole Tate returning to the lineup.

Yea, this was my thought as a worst case scenario...

If I had to guess, I think we end SEC play: 1, 1, 2, 2

With that finish, would probably need to win 1 in Hoover to host a regional

If we finish the season at 17-13 in conference, I think we are locks to host regardless of Hoover. But with Can on in the mound, I also think we win at least 1 in Hoover (would put us at 18-15 in conference games come selection Sunday)
