I'd say they were a little more than awake

You know, seen plenty of games this season and in past years when they couldn’t seem to be bothered.
KSU had arguably worse pitching last night than we did, so we should have scored the runs we did.
Btw Cole Tate is likely done for the regular season with a stress fracture in his leg

I get that we're doing Thurs-Sat because of Easter (I guess?) but why did we also have another one of those 2 or 3 weeks ago? Does every team have to play 2 thurs-sun weekends?
Also I could be wrong but I could swear we've played on easter sunday in the past?

Teams get to choose whether to play Thu-Sat or Fri-Sun on Easter weekend. I believe every team plays 2 Thu-Sat series each Spring

Dawgs lead 1-0 through 1 thanks to back to back errors by the A&M defense

1 pitch, 1 run.
1-1 in the 2nd
1-1 in the 2nd

2-1 Aggies in the 5th
6Ks and only 2 hits for their starter so far
Garrett Brown coming in for Crisp

Brown gives up a double, a walk, and a 3 run bomb to left in succession. Still nobody out
Shocked, shocked i tell you!
5-1 Aggies in the 5th

Can Stetson come in and pitch?

I’m fine with it. Brown is arguably worse in the bullpen than he is a starter
ETA: He just chunked it into the outfield on a pick off attempt

7-1 Aggies in the 6th
Bad as Brown is at pitching, our offense has managed 3 hits to A&M’s 8.

Holy frick this is one of the worst home plate ump strike zones I've ever seen
Posted on 4/15/22 at 5:47 pm to WG_Dawg
We should have bases loaded no ours but instead have 1 and 2 with 1 out

The home plate ump has his head up his @ss. Horrible "strike" zone.

Dawgs win a nail biter 4-3. Took my kid to the game, hence my absence but I’ll have notes later

Gowen made it interesting, but I'll take it.

Props to Luke Wagner tonight, getting us through 4 full with only 1 run. Unless Sully proves otherwise, we basically only have 1 actual 6-7 inning starter left on the staff in Cannon so everyone else needs to go at least 4 innings to pull their weight. Wagner did his job and got us out to the lead we needed to make A&M press at the plate.
Woods looked much more himself tonight than he did at KSU and while Gowen allowed it to be tighter than was comfortable, he shut them down in the end and has cemented himself as one of the top closers in the league.
Offensively, it was statistically a better night though we are still constipated in the RBI department as a squad. At least we fought off pitches and got on base which caused A&M to burn two guys with starter potential as they head into what is likely a staff game for them tomorrow. I’ll credit Stricklin with this: what we lack in timely hitting he will make up for in being pesky at the plate for o get to a soft bullpen. Only problem is when someone like Dettmer decides to lock in last night, we simply don’t have an answer and certainly don’t have an ace at the moment to try to outlast him with. Hopefully that changes next Friday; sounds promising for Cannon to return in T-Town.
Should be a raucous crowd tomorrow afternoon. We will learn a lot about this squad’s near future with Sully back on the bump for a full game of work. Woods is spent, as is Wagner, Crisp, and Marsh. Not sure how many pitches Polk and Brown threw last night but I’d just as soon not see them again if at all possible. So, that leaves us somewhat thin in the pen (Gowen should be able to throw again tomorrow but probably for no more than 6 outs I would think).
