Brooks just gave him an extension so he will be here at least another year.
To be fair, I don’t think he’s a bad coach (he has 600 wins after all) but he’s not a great coach and his philosophy has been passed by better recruiters in conference. He would do/has done well at a G5 program or smaller P5.
Wouldn’t hurt my feelings if it was determined that he had done his job to stabilize the program after Perno but now it’s time to upgrade.

He's been here almost as long as perno with like 1/10th of the results. If we don't make Omaha this year there is literally no justifiable reason to keep him.

Brooks won’t do it, though. Not this year. Strick just signed an extension, hiring new coaches in a handful of other sports, and we still have Kirby’s big arse raise in the works. Plus Foley is supposed to be getting renovation work.
Timing won’t see it happen unless we wind up with a losing record this season (aggravating as this team is, they’ll find a way to manufacture wins and improve just enough even if it means getting bounced from a regional at best)
ETA: only other way I see it happen is if Brooks thinks he can go on a fundraising tear with promise of both an expanded stadium and a new coach. But that could end up waiting a year with everything else going on (also depends on who is out there that could be an upgrade and attracted here)

What should be done eventually must be done immediately.
I mean what's the point in keeping him one more year just bc of an extension? Does jb think he'll get us to Omaha next season? If not just do the inevitable

I don’t disagree but I’m not going to get my hopes set on change that realistically isn’t going to happen this year for all the reasons I mentioned. There is a finite amount of money to spend on the UGAA side and Baseball isn’t exactly swimming in donors like football

Sullivan still out next week against Florida.
After Stricklin said 2 weeks ago that he was fine and was just being held against UK because of the cold.

He played SS in high school, but can’t be worse than the shite we have out there right now.

Dawgs drop to #23 in this weeks D1Baseball poll

Maybe they are taking our injuries into consideration, but I don’t think we deserve top 25 status after the way we’ve been pitching and leaving runners on base

Baseball America dropped us entirely
Cole Tate will be back this week, apparently Sullivan is healthy but Stricklin won’t let him go until he pitches an intrasquad first. We will pitch Cannon Friday but now the Thursday and Saturday slots are TBA as Brown’s stint as a starter is done.
Past time to just live and die with Jaden Woods in a starter role IMO

Hank Bearden with the start tonight. Makes me think we see Coleman Willis on Thursday or Saturday vs Florida

Like the lineup. What’s the top end expectation for Bearden tonight? 4 solid innings then let the pen blow it? Do we stretch him 6 innings if he’s doing well?

5-6 innings is what Stricklin is hoping for, so long as he’s throwing strikes
Lineup is automatically better with Cole Tate back in it
Dawgs lead 2-0 in the 2nd off some Southern defensive errors

Chaney Rogers bails out a bases loaded jam with a fantastic diving catch out in right to save multiple runs.
Dawgs now have 2 RISP in the bot 4 after a single, a walk, and a sac bunt
Another pitching change for Southern in the works
Cole Tate grounds into a fielders choice, scoring JMac
