Would be pretty awesome to see Swift, Godwin, Mecole, DRob and Nauta on the field together. An all-5* skill lineup.
Add to that...we could have Isaiah Wilson, Cade Mays and Jamaree Salyer along the Oline by the end of the season...all 5* to go along with Andrew Thomas and Gaillard.
At the very latest we could have all of those starting for us next year. 8 of 11 offensive starters, and one 4* (Andrew Thomas) that beat one of the 5* out of a starting position last season. And that doesn't even count the defense, which is where the majority of our talent came from last recruiting cycle.

If it were me, I'd have attorneys putting legal and prescedent pressure on the NCAA. Now that it's public, I would also line up a PR firm to get publicity on the situation and make the NCAA look like shite for not letting the kid play.
That might work, but I would almost rather have him next year and the next. We are loaded on offense this year, particularly at WR. Any way we go, I am happy to have him, for one, two or however many years we have him.

I'd be more worried about him just going pro straight after the 2019 season. Hopefully we can get him for this year, and 2019 as well.

Either way. I'm just ha[y we have him...enjoy him while we have him.

I can understand that thought process, but I think Kirby's philosophy is to load it up as much as possible right now.
As someone pointed out, if he balls out, he could easily declare after one season on the field. Don't think there is much chance he would declare after 2018 if he has to sit that year. Too much money to be left on the table as his draft stock would be low at that point.

Well, he can't declare after 2018 whether he plays or not. He is a sophomore. He can't declare under any circumstances until after 2019. He could declare after the 2019 season, or come back for a senior year.
If he has to redshirt this year, he could still declare in 2019.
So, yes, if he redshirts this year (because of the transfer) he could possibly declare and go pro after 2019.

A player has to be three years removed from high school to declare.
Drob was a freshman at Cal in 2016. He took a medical redshirt in 2017 at Cal. 2018 will be his third season, and he therefore is eligible to declare anytime thereafter.

Your college class is irrelevant, you just have to be 3 years removed from high School. Idk what class he is or when he can play but he was in the '16 recruiting class so I believe he can declare after this season if he wants.

You're right. I was miscounting. I was thinking he signed in 2016 class so his first year was 2017.
My bad.

I don't drink, so I just have to blame it on old age and a terminal case of stupidity on my part.

Doesn’t Logue commit today?

Logue going to severely hurt our avg ranking per player...

Keep the main thing the main thing. The main thing isn't what you think the main thing is, I think.

I wouldn't worry too much about it. Logue is climbing in the rankings, and is starting to get a lot of attention from a lot of schools. He'll not be a 5* but I think one thing the coaches like about him is he will give us more depth, and if he washes out at DT he has the size and length that he could move over to OT. Some think he could turn into an elite OT. (I hate calling a player elite, because that gets overdone)
In short, he is versatile, and is only improving. They feel like he has a big upside. He'll definitely be a good get if we land him.
Watching his film it is almost strange how a RB can be moving and when he hits them he never (rarely) moves backward....they just stop and go down. He hits hard.
There are those on this board who are (legitimately) concerned about his height, though. If he can stay low and learn to use his hands, though I think he could be a really good player.

All I keep hearing is that he is severely underrated.
