True dual threat QBs are more dynamic and difficult to stop. That's why Alabama is recruiting those types of QBs. I'm sorry that offends you.

A lot of schools nationally recruit those types of QBs.

To be fair, we're really not.
We have three committed QBs for the Classes of 2019 and 2020 and all three of them are Pro-Style kids.
Tua isn't really a dual-threat QB either. The one guy we have on our roster, Jalen Hurts, that is a dual-threat was only a take after we missed on a bunch of other QBs in his class, namely Jacob Eason, Dwayne Haskins and Shea Patterson.

Don’t let facts get in the way of HTDawg’s narrative please.

You lost me with that. Don't tell me Tua isn't a dual threat QB. He is and you know it. The fact that he prefers to throw doesn't make him a typical pro-style QB. You're also recruiting his brother. I don't care what the recruiting services list him. He is a dual threat QB. His highlight tape is filled with ridiculous runs.
Hurts is not a dual threat QB because he can't pass worth a crap. You have to be able to do both effectively. Tua and Taulia do both effectively.

He isn't. Does he have the capability to run if necessary? Sure. So does Jake Fromm. Is Fromm a dual-threat guy?

Taulia is even more lead footed than Tua. He had negative yards rushing his Sophomore season.

He throws the ball damn near 50 times a game for Thompson. I'd like to see this runs you are talking about.

Edited because HTDawg literally said the exact same thing haha

Year Grade Team GP Car Yds Avg Y/G Lng 100+ TD
Varsity Totals 18 51 208 4.1 11.6 15 0 6
18-19 Senior Varsity 5 21 53 2.5 10.6 12 0 1
17-18 Junior Varsity 13 30 155 5.2 11.9 15 0 5
I know that's a bit of an eyesore, so let's break that down... In his final two years (to date), Taulia had 51 carries for 208 yards... in total.
Let's do a blind resume comparison...
quote:
Year Grade Team GP Car Yds Avg Y/G Lng 100+ TD
Varsity Totals 46 204 594 2.9 12.9 62 1 7
16-17 Senior Varsity 10 106 351 3.3 35.1 62 1 4
15-16 Junior Varsity 13 33 81 2.5 6.2 18 0 0
14-15 Sophomore Varsity 13 31 104 3.4 8.0 16 0 2
13-14 Freshman Varsity 10 34 58 1.7 5.8 15 1
that's 100+ carries for 350 yards in the senior year alone... for one Jake Fromm State Farm....
Trevor Lawrence could hardly be confused as a "Dual Threat" QB... and had... give or take about 50 carries for 200+ yards per season... LINK
Tua did run more in HS... but he's decimating teams through the air thus far... through 6 games, he's run 23 times... or approximately 4 times per game, about on par with what he did in 2017, with 27 attempts through 8 games played. He's an athletic QB, absolutely. He has mobility as an asset. But he's a different beast altogether than someone like Cam Newton who had 260+ rushing attempts in 2010 at Auburn.

Typically, the fastest statistical way to be classified as a dual threat quarterback is to be non-white.
Haha.
Haha.

Tua has 255 rushing yards on 50 carries.
Fromm has 58 rushing yards on 68 carries.
It’s clear one is a much bigger threat with his feet than the other.

Any recruits we're interested in going to be at the game tomorrow?
Posted on 10/12/18 at 1:06 pm to djsdawg
Ok. So provide us with your threshold for the yardage needed to become a DT QB
Posted on 10/12/18 at 1:10 pm to HTDawg
Would you consider Aaron Rodgers at DT QB? Probably not because he’s white
Not including last year he averages nearly 400 yds rushing most years. It’s called being mobile. Not DT

Not sure what the threshold is, but tua is above it and Fromm is below it.
Posted on 10/12/18 at 10:00 pm to djsdawg
And, still, neither is a dual-threat QB.

Gonna have to disagree and call Tua a pass first dual threat.

You call Aaron Rodgers that too?

Sure, his production on the ground supports it.
