UTk folks are in denial that Mays would go elsewhere

I probably would be freaking out as well. Some still think he could end up there, but there was lots of chatter UTk would keep Butch through end of the season weeks ago. That looks likely, and no matter if you're an alum or not, you want the best for your kid. Especially when he could potentially make millions one day.

They likely wouldn't even have a position coach in until after he's enrolled. Great offensive line coaches are hard to find.

It's a nice feeling that the '17 team we are watching is most likely the least talented team we will field for the next 5 years or so.

We lose a ton on defense next year. The talent will be there, but lack of experience will definitely set us back some on that side of the ball.

However, it is crazy to think that Michel and Chubb will leave, yet our avg RB recruiting rank will go up.

Only reason he would go to Moo U is because of two families or the other reason Clemson historically pulled recruits. No one and I mean no one follows Clemson. T'ton is a typical mill town -- GA, Tech, Aubie town.

I feel like our staff has done a good job of making sure our younger guys have gotten experience for next season. Reed and Baker will be back in the backfield along with McGee. LeCounte and Gibbs have both played meaningful minutes in big games, as well. At ILB we'll be returning Patrick while Taylor and Rice have both seen a lot of action. OLB we'll lose both of our starters but Walker and Grant have both played very well at times. Grant should be the next superstar at OLB. DL is probably where we have our best depth. Losing Thompson (perhaps) and, to a lesser extent, Atkins, will hurt but you still have a ton of guys with a lot of experience behind them.

We'll take a step back on defense next year because guys like Thompson and Smith are really tough to replace, but a lot of our opponents think we'll just drop off a cliff and that won't happen.

Or they won a national championship last year, have a dedicated fan base, and recruits like Dabo...

It will be the first big test to our "reload not replace" philosophy on defense. We already do it at RB.

Walker

He's probably our best pure pass-rusher. Every time he is in he seems to be affecting the QB. I'm really curious to see what a season as a starter would bring in terms of sacks and hurries for him.

Walker seems to be on the small side to be starting at OLB. Maybe he will add on around 10 pounds to prepare for his senior season.

Robert Cooper won't have a spot in this class. We'll get Jordan Davis from NC or Barmore from Philly on the last DL spot. I think we finish with Salyer, Hill, Ford, Reese, Tindall, Barmore/Davis, and then one of Campbell/Mays/Sandidge/best available. If two of the best available guys wanted to come then Wildgoose or Condon could be asked to greyshirt.
