Interesting. Thought I'd seen somewhere that he was 5'10, was hoping it was on the high side, ... if he's that small, then yeah, we're not a likely destination.

Yeah here's the line from The Opening Regional in FL in February for BRH:

Radley-Hiles, Brendan/IMG Academy - FL/DB/18/5-8.5/176

So yeah unless he grew a little bit (which wouldn't be unheard of) between February and now he's just under 5'9". He's a play-maker for sure, but I would assume he does not fit Kirby and staff's ideal CB mold.

Correct. Lockdown lanky corners, that are sure tacklers. Speed will be a good one down the line. The steal from last year's class imo.

Hoping for big things from Eric Stokes as well, but so far seems to have been passed by Speed at the very least. Dude is a blazer... If not, maybe we find a way to bring him over to the offensive side of the ball a la Mecole.

Another potential steal. Developing into a SEC DB is tough. He's got plenty of time. Hard to judge speed and football speed/instincts. They saw something in him to put off others, so I'll trust them.

If you saw Smart's comments re: Matt Landers, we've got quite a few guys from last year's class that were less heralded that seem to be having some success. Apparently there was some interest in moving him up this week from the scout team. Ultimately didn't do it as he says he needs to mature (specifically mentioned academically) a bit, but apparently giving our defense fits on the scout team.

Is there any strategy involved with the timing of these commits? Does the staff try to spread them out?

Maybe once in a while. Seems they've set the tone a few times, but I'd guess it's mostly on the recruit.
There's not many slots left, with a few silents, so a couple could hop on soon.

Faalele...

Dunno what Americus is hearing. I'd imagine his spot is dependent on some of the other guys though... he's a project. Not sure you could feasibly take him before a Trey Hill (or Cade Mays if there is actually any traction there).

Really? Thought he was a can't miss type of guy...i mean I knew he hasn't been playing football long but I guess I was reading into the hype too much

I mean, he's only a 3 star, and definitely a big project. Pittman has done work with big linemen before, but I think he was just a unique prospect more than a can't miss guy. Not a whole lost of 6'9", 400 lb guys who are going to play college football so he's rare.

I'd much rather have Hill or Mays (as slight of a chance as it is he comes to us).

I mean... you can't fricking miss him. He's a giant human being. He "redshirted" year one at IMG academy. Is playing this year... He might be a take over Hill, but I'd doubt he'd be a take over Cade Mays (who some back channel sauces are reporting is being "recruited" by Salyer to join the Dawgs #grainofsalt). Cade is the 247 Composite #15 player... at 6'5"+, 290-310 range, and dad was a top-tier OL at Tennessee (NFL career derailed by "freak off-season knee injury"... can't find details)... Probably not taking a project over him if you have the choice.

If I'm reading his 247 page correctly, Cade is going to OV to UGA on Dec 15th as his last official? Not sure if his plan is to sign during early signing period or not though (like 5 days later). Initially, didn't think we had a chance with him at all, but since re-opening his recruitment, it sure seems like there is some real interest at least. May have a lot to do with who UT hires (if they can get the firing part figured out first).

He's coming to Athens this weekend as far as I'm aware as well (not sure if you mentioned that, my bad if you did).

Two of the two UT games he saw were So Car and us. Not sure that was a great experience for him (fans booing, crappy performances).

Didn't mention it in my post, but thought it had already been called out. Pretty sure that's an unofficial. If you look at his 247 page, it shows a Dec 15th official visit to UGA, so guessing that's pre-planned? LINK

(Yep... if you scroll further to the right, it also shows the unofficial this weekend. So we have his last planned OV FWIW).

Yeah... I mean... any performance this year has been bad for them really, but certainly the UGA game did not go as planned if you're drawing up recruiting weekends.

Channing Tindall worth keeping an eye on. Thread whacked by Rusty about him... usually happens when trying to prevent anyone from spoiling things... #grainofsalt but definitely worth watching. He will be in Athens this weekend.
